  2. So it seems to me that there is no way to actually by pass the pre amp in the mu2, is my understanding correct?
  3. Today
  4. I can include the Hoerwege power supply as well. Pm me if interested
  5. Yes, it was like that before. At some point, the individual Pettersson albums with Christian Lindberg on BIS disappeared, coinciding with the release of a complete set of all the symphonies in the same performance. A little later, the individual albums reappeared.
  6. There is no such thing as the best set of Sibelius symphonies. Different people will name different editions, and each recommendation can have its own advantages but may not suit you specifically. Anyway, you may want to try each one of Vänskä's, early Berglund, Sir Colin Davis/Boston.

  8. Yes, this is what I've been saying, because it natively only supports these two rates, nothing else. DSD64 although works as well, but it is not recommended and kind of "underclocking" thing. I would say DSD64 should be always played through some upsampling, just like 44.1/48k PCM.

    HQ Player

And if one has Nvidia GPU, whenever updating HQPlayer it is also good time to check whether there is a new Studio Driver available from Nvidia (or Game Ready if the computer is also used for gaming). It is also good practice to uninstall previous version before installing new one. This cleans up old file versions from the program files folder so that there is no cumulative growth of unused files there. It shouldn't have functional effect though...
  10. Moving the settings file worked. Thanks!!
  11. True. I do believe more and more of the new dacs will perform a better job of noise isolation that we may not need an Intona anymore
  12. bogi

    HQ Player

I expect you have that already proven with your previous DACs. You mentioned Intona many times in the previous years.

    HQ Player

@AudioExplorer As the first thing, with HQPlayer not running, you can move your %LOCALAPPDATA%\HQPlayer\settings.xml (usually C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\HQPlayer) to some other directory and start HQPlayer. It should then start with default settings. If that doesn't help, move the settings file back. Do you have still the previous version installation media stored? If you can, try to return to your previous version to see if that version behaves still flawlessly. You can try this more pedant reinstallation procedure for Win11 application: Reboot (to ensure that no process blocks full uninstallation) Settings -> Apps -> Installed Apps -> uninstall Signalyst HQPlayer 5 Desktop Check if files in C:\Program Files\Signalyst\HQPlayer 5 Desktop were deleted. Install the new version. Check if you didn't start using some kind of software you didn't use previously. Check if you didn't start to experience any other issues with your computer, which are not related to HQPlayer.
  14. "Tuning your network..." love it, and hate it! 😃 I appreciate this conversation if only because it parallels my current situation, attempting to "regain" "lost" sound quality due to an unexpected change in gear that results in potential changes in the signal path that in turn result in additional component, cabling, power supply, and ultimately financial choices... This is indeed a bit frustrating, less because I feel the need to have the best gear, but that I had a sound I had tuned and cultivated carefully w/ complimentary gear selection, and now I've lost that fine balance. For myself, I don't think it's fair to expect manufacturers to account for all configuration possibilities when those are infinite just in the network dimension alone, let alone additional dimensions such as the subjective values people favor in their reproduced sound. So again I appreciate this thread in part because it helps me understand where the most leverage is in digital choices/signal path, and thus where I want to focus my effort and my $$$ considering I need to reestablish my sonic north star. Time to push off and sail to a different shore, I guess, but that's my point: The quality of reproduced digital sound is now very high for very low spend. So beware the tail wagging the dog! The diminishing returns curve is very steep and rises very high, very very fast. The way I've navigated this is by knowing what I'm seeking to change, and only buying what is needed to gain a quality without sacrificing or trading off another essential quality. If the XACT is within your capabilities - congrats and enjoy the music! I'll be trying to figure out if JPlay is the closest I'll get. (And JPlay is outstanding to my ear.) First world problems - hope this helps and good luck y'allz!
  15. So, back to why the need for a Rendu, in my case my recently upgraded Deluxe from SE. Five years ago I set about converting my system to single-source streaming-only using Qobuz Studio (or HiFi as it was then). No more LPs or SACDs. No files, no server. Just Internet streaming. I did it because I wasn't satisfied with having limited access to all music and because I wanted to prove that it could be done. Well, it can be done and the Deluxe was the final nail in the coffin for all other sources for me. The Deluxe and Qobuz bring me closer than I ever thought possible to the master tape, and that was my main objective. I am constantly amazed at the sound quality I now achieve and consider the job to be done. All else is just bonus from this point on. Thanks for the review, it reinforces everything I hear in the Deluxe's performance. Congratulations to all at Sonore.
  16. It seems that AKM 4499EX can only perfectly play DSD128-256 in DSD direct mode
  17. I recently installed updates for my Windows 11 home OS on my MSI PC and downloaded the 5.7.4 desktop software. Now, when I try to start up desktop, nothing happens. I tried restarting and reinstalling HQPlayer desktop. I have been running the previous version of desktop for many months and it has been quite stable. Has anyone faced this issue or can suggest a fix?
  18. Is there a possibility to install an IR receiver on a raspi 4 with gentooplayer?
  19. The simple answer is YES. Upto now, albums that I bought, and dissappeared from Qobuz (or re-appeared with another catalog reference) were always available to me to redownload. Apparently this has changed now. But let's get everything in perspective : I am loosing the 'redownload' possibility on 5 albums out of little over 500 purchased albums. Of course impact for other users could be much higher (I believe there's much more going on in the Classical genre department then in others).
  20. I must admit it is very strange: Some say the new OS has been launched several weeks ago and others say it is still in beta. I think Jord should clarify.

  22. I use Ramsystem only for endpointpc. very fast includes only a few features web-interface will be disabled, so requires an ssh connection the pc must be wired lan Once you click on EXCUTE the web-interface will no longer be reachable, you will have to login via ssh and you can reboot the PC with reboot and return to its original state or enable the ramsystem at boot with ramsystem_enable.
  23. There are a lot of weird things in this hobby, the only thing which I have learned is to try to look for the alternatives if any in the Non-audio/Industrial/Research space..it saves money and offers better, measured and reliable performance...especially to things related to power. Regards, Audio_phool
  24. @WuBai A little tip. You don't have to connect your target to router. There is a other option: On host: Menu 8: network bridge. Select eth 0 and eth 1. Now your target gets a ip address. After your done select network bridge remove. I think having network bridge on impact sound quality negative You are really amazing by trying all that settings in gentooplayer and than remembering if its benefits to a better sound quality. What a time you put into it😱
  25. I would suggest you to wait until you get the Delta 3. After that you can plan to switch your entire system off the grid to the battery just like the @UberK did by calculating how much power would you need for your typical daily session without battery going into it's loud mode. I am also contemplating on getting the EcoFlow Delta 2 for my system, which is more than sufficient as my entire system just consumes 50 W per hour, so Delta 2 can give me roughly 20 hrs of listening time..if I consider 10% at bottom and 10% at top as reserve limits then even with total 80% battery capacity I can easily run the system for 16 Hrs a day (the demo person asked my friend to use the battery between 10% to 90% limit of the Delta 2 for max life, so I don't know the logic behind this) Regards, Audio_phool
  26. Auke, I would love to tell you where it comes from, but I'm afraid I do not understand the question! The tweaks come from looking up the functions of ethtool on various Linux forums. Autoneg OFF for example gives a more open but less precise sound. Autoneg ON gives a more detailed but 'digital' sound, at least for me. As for the Target Diretta setting, I'm sorry I've been working and haven't had a chance to connect my Target to my router and check. You will find it if you look. It is in the same place as Diretta Host settings, but on your Target machine. There you can turn on and off DSP or various PCM support. You can also change your latency setting. I tried setting '3' but it did not work at all, Diretta wouldn't connect. I settled on '6' but try to find it and experiment with changing the setting. It is time consuming to listen to each one, but it is worth it. Also don't forget to turn OFF Web Interface on your Target before connecting back to your Host, this is very important for sound.
