  1. I must admit it is very strange: Some say the new OS has been launched several weeks ago and others say it is still in beta. I think Jord should clarify.
  2. AFAIK, if you buy a PF streamer the software is included. I am not aware that they sell their software without streamer.
  3. After reading this my gut feeling says: Run away from Euphony... 😎
  4. Pink Faun cured themselves of Euphony too. At least this is my understanding. AFAIK, the new Pink Faun OS is not Euphony based and sounds superior. 😎
  5. According to this FB post from Australia it is released since September: https://www.facebook.com/PuraAu/photos/pink-faun-high-end-audio-has-to-be-one-of-the-hardest-working-companies-in-audio/977860857472361/?_rdr
  6. Thanks for sharing. PF mention on their FB that there are some 2.16 ultra set-ups running the new OS. Did you get the chance to try it?
  7. https://www.pinkfaun.com/shop/content/51-scion PF mention a new in-house developed software platform, most probably the new Pink Faun OS for all their streamers.
  8. https://www.monoandstereo.com/pink-faun-scion-music-server/ Can someone share some info about the new SCION and their new OS? Thanks
  9. @di-fi Sorry, but your arguments do not convince me at all. It seems to be the same for manufacturers. I would never buy such a device and see only disadvantages. I do not understand what you will gain with it. Most probably it will be more expensive than separate devices for the same SQ, but YMMV. All the best 🙂
  10. 1.) Upgrades: The frequency of a 3-in-one device is threefold in comparison to one device. In the worst case you have to send it back to the manufacturer. 2.) With separate devices all have their own or one separate power supply and their own case. These two points provide better SQ in comparison to all-in-one. 3.) There might be different router requirements in different continents. 4.) Some router/streamer combos offer better SQ without a switch in between. 5.) Most people wouldn't like to have the function of a router in their living room. 6.) Some people prefer to have a wifi connection between router and switch or streamer. 7.) Most people want to replace either router (or switch) or streamer and not all together. 8.) Because of different requirements it might to more difficult to sell on the used market. 9.) The case of a 3-in-one might be too big for some racks. Surely there are more... 😎
  11. My interpretation of Marcin's post with the "free dinner" is that XACT S1 sounds as good as it is because all is reduced what does not contribute to excellent sound. I don't think that an all-in-one device (router/switch/server) will provide the same high SQ as separate devices. Beside that there are other disadvantages with this concept.
  12. Correct, but from Emile's posts I have the impression that he prefers lower AWG numbers than 30. @Superdad Agree, interesting would be a comparison Melco vs Amphenol.
  13. Yes, the longest 7m passive one use 24AWG. According to Taiko Audio the longer DAC cable gives fuller/warmer sound. This is more likely due to the wire gauge used. The difference between 24AWG and 30AWG is factor 4 in area. So it is up to personal taste whether to go for longer/thicker or shorter/thinner cables. Maybe Amphenol will launch a short 24AWG in the future. https://cdn.amphenol-cs.com/media/wysiwyg/files/documentation/datasheet/cableassemblies/hsio_ca_sfp.pdf
  14. Yes, the audiophile Melco cable is 24AWG and at least according to the thread on WBF superior to other less expensive DAC cables. But I am wondering if it is just the 24AWG which makes the Melco better as nearly all other cables use the much thinner 30AWG.
  15. This one is 25AWG and from a SKEWCLEAR list from Amphenol: https://eu.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Amphenol-Commercial-Products/NJDDGN0002?qs=17ckDYBRdenDT34Qsvb1hw%3D%3D I hope the data is right.
  16. Across various forums there seems to be a pattern that 24AWG cables offer a somewhat better SQ than 30AWG cables. IIRC, that has also been mentioned by Taiko Audio. So for comparisons it makes sense to compare DAC cables in the same AWG class and the same length.
  17. I have the impression that you are confusing Sonore toneDAC with TotalDAC.......
  18. There is a large thread (45 pages) on Head-Fi as well.
  19. https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/hopkins-system.35850/page-19#post-981786
  20. Now I have seen these on another forum, very interesting.......
  21. If the price is at the level of the new PF USB V2 bridge I would say it is OK....500 Euros The JCAT USB with the same chip is much more expensive. The prices of the PF bridges are in comparison to other audiophile devices reasonable. From a "Source First" POV a PCIe bridge is more important than a USB or SPDIF cable and a lot of people are willing to pay much more for USB and SPDIF cables.
  22. @Superdad I know you were always fond of the dac1321 with your own power supplies. So I am curious if you want to try the new dac1221 as well. 😄
  23. The Soekris dac1221 has been finally released: http://soekris.dk/dac1221.html
  24. Would you like to share some further info? Same price/quality range as sDP-1000EX or different? Thank you
