I'm desperately waiting to get an update from Jord about this. Euphony today already sounds very good once tuned so for PF to say they've managed to come up with something better is really something special. More so since the new OS works with Roon - finally I can get all my music together, sorted by added date!

I haven’t had a chance to hear the new Os yet only was told of its development. It’s optimised for the Ultra unit but I’m told it should work for the older 2.16x also. I don’t have any more info at this time, will update when I do.

Just an option to try, no harm. Tried Mozzaik sometime back but didn't find it added to the enjoyment. I also don't use HQP anymore nor PGGB, for the same reason. Upsampling doesn't sound good with my Vinnie Rossi DAC2 (NOS) which seems to work best with bit perfect files.

I can only mention that several months ago during beta development, running Roon on it was said to be already better sounding than Euphony Stylus.

Hey Paul, it was for a different reason this time. For no apparent reason, the internal 20240701 just wouldn’t boot up. But an external usb drive with 20230531 worked fine. Tried the repair process from USB to internal but that didn’t help. Finally used another internal drive for the boot. Asked Robert to remote in to check that partition but he refused, saying the second internal drive caused boot confusion. Hmmm I think it’s not something affecting others here. All a moot point soon as Pink Faun has their own OS in beta and I’m hoping to try that once it’s ready.

It's not their server, it's my system. An external Euphony USB with 202305 boots fine. Tried to do the "repair" into both partition 2 and 3, but the internal drive still doesn't boot normally. Waiting for them to remote in and look around. I really wouldn't want to reinstall fresh again having recently been forced to do so. Takes a weeks work messing around to get the music back in place (in all the wrong order), missing covers, album splits back together again despite no obvious reason and settings back up to normal again. Just too much work.

Recently I was rearranging my UPnP end point. Euphony doesn't like that and is refusing to allow me to see the new setup. Robert from support says: " When you deactivated UPNP then it is difficult to go back. We are preparing update (soon to be available) which will enable restoring scan of UPNP after deactivation. " Just in case others are facing this issue..

Same issue. After a full reinstall from 0531, it has no further update to 0701. That means YouTube doesn’t work.

Didn’t even know there’s an EQ function in Euphony! 😄 Where is it?

Using a drive attached to the streamer is probably faster than through a 100/1000 network. If it’s a lot of music files, it’s worth the trouble to do it this way. Euphony doesn’t mount attached drives automatically, you have to do it manually.

Some minor issues and dislikes but overall I like Euphony enough to renew too. 😄 It's ability to tune the sound is underrated, good for people that like to tweak.

Also when switching kernels, don’t use the app. Use a browser as .local or the IP address of Euphony. I found problems with working with the app.

An interesting discovery about the new 20240701 update. For me classical orchestra music sounded harsh in the treble, worse than previously. Imaging becomes very tight including bass. Perhaps slightly over tight. So I tried to explore the kernel settings. This new update defaults to 5.14 but sounds more like 5.18 to me. So I switched to 5.18 and then back to 5.14 to see if there was any difference. Not easy process. Required me countless reboots to get it done and working again. Finally it’s done. Huge difference. Back to what it used to sound like - treble back under control, soundstage wide and not over focused. I suspect the update messed up the kernel settings in my setup. If anyone is having issues with treble or soundstage width, this might be work trying. Confirmed this process with another Euphony user who didn’t like the sound after the update. Working normally again after performing this kernel switch and switch back.

This last stable 0701 release seems to have improved the sound in my system. Recently I made a few changes to the power cables to the AC conditioner so that might be it. I’m also finding the streamer running slightly cooler than before too but again that might be from some other adjustment to my streamer cooling solution or the summer heat wave reduced. Too many parallel adjustments going on to be totally sure. With album sorting finally working again, all in all, I’m ok with the current version. Although that Tidal high res playback issue through Stylus is still not resolved yet ..
