  1. Roon has a pretty good cross-feed function.
  2. Quite some years so no worries? What would be a good replacement, given what I need it for: to power a Sonore Opticalmodule?
  3. My UltraCap LPS-1.2 is blinking red and is making a soft ticking noise. Should I assume that it is broken and beyond repair?
  4. Even a first generation Chord HUGO improved things, as did DACs I borrowed in the past: Metrum Pavane and Aqua La Scala MKII. I also own a Weiss DAC205 for a second system and this DAC also has very good synergy with the Lyngdorf/dCS combo. I have no experience with cheaper streamers. The dCS is really very good when used with its own player software (Mosaic). Plays at a higher level in my system than a Grimm Audio MU1 if the MU1's upsampler is disabled. With the upsampler active, the Grimm is in a class of its own.
  5. See my signature. Adding the Chord DAVE as an external DAC and the dCS Network Bridge as a streamer made a huge, huge difference. A completely different playing field. You will need the optional ADC module in the Lyngdorf.
  6. Thx. Exactly what you expect at this level. Relatively small differences, but once you have experienced them it is difficult to take a step back....
  7. The honest answer is that I don't know. Personally, I would never do it without first hearing the MU2 in my own system.
  8. An alternative: sell the MMT while it still has a good resale value and buy an MU2. Here in the Netherlands I see a trend of DAVE/MU1 and MMT/MU1 combinations for sale with the argument of purchasing the MU2.
  9. I do find the title of this article a bit misleading given the highly subjective nature of the content.
  10. Tip: do not share the power supply for the EtherRegen with the TP-link.
  11. A counter-narrative. In my system, the MU1 (not the MU2, hope to demo it soon) definitely sounded better with an isolation transformer. In a setup where the DAC and amplifier are also behind the IT and the three components were together on a power distributor with star wiring (everything on a dedicated power line). I also cannot agree with people who say that the MU1 is insensitive to the incoming Ethernet signal. In my system I heard differences between Ethernet cables, but especially a significant improvement with opticalRendu/etherREGEN/very good LPS's between router and MU1. I expect this will be no different for the MU2.
  12. I agree, speakers, the listening room and acoustics of the room are very important factors. But I hear similar differences in my headphone setup.
  13. Thank you for your story. You should definitely try the 205 with a good power supply. Compared to the included switched-mode power supply this transforms the DAC to a whole new level. I have very good results with the Uptone Audio JS-2. I still plan to test the Ferrum Hypsos that I now use on the EtherREGEN. However, a good A/B comparison is then not possible because this swap changes the chain. A while ago the Hypsos replaced the JS-2 as the power supply for the EtherREGEN because it was slightly better.
  14. A follow-up to my own post. I still can't wrap my head around why this DAC sounds so good. Does anyone else have similar experiences with this generation of Weiss DACs (DAC501, DAC502, DAC204, DAC205)? According to the dealer, they all use exactly the same D/A technology. I realize that the DAC205 is not a budget solution (2.5K) but for someone who already has a high-end power supply and a streamer with a good S/PDIF implementation it can be a very interesting option! It delivers the same or arguably even better performance (depending on the quality of the power supply) than the much more expensive 501 and 502 models (10K).
