  1. This is very true. We really need a quality pre processor that sounds good (under $2500) and meets the specs you describe. Power amps are not the issue.
  2. Given the increasing using of multichannel formats (Dolby Atmos, multichannel dsf, blu-ray audio) I wish that quality audio companies would start to offer higher audio quality devices. I have a Denon 4800H, and while is it OK, it does not have the audio quality of even cheaper components like those made by Schiit Audio. I hope these companies reconsider. Another feature I hope companies that make streamers consider. I have a zidoo UHD8000 and it has an audio only HDMI output that outputs high quality multichannel flac and dsf streams. I hope that companies like Lumin, Auralic and even NAD consider this.
  3. Using minimserver and folder view in jplay, I have a folder for all of my box sets. However, when I choose a box set it seems that I can't add all of the tracks of the box set to the queue. Instead I have to add each of the individual albums in the box set to the queue. There does not seem to be the ability to right click on the entire box set to add all the tracks in the queue. Obviously, this is not an issue when you find a box set via search. Only using the folder view do I have this problem. Is there any way around this?
  4. How does jplay for ios handle cover art for box sets. I seem to be having difficulty display individual cover art for each album in the box set. For example, with a box set with 50 discs, I have different covers embedded in each disc. I have no problems with this on either audirvana or jriver, but am having trouble with this with jplay. Any suggestions as to how to make this work (I am using minimserver as the source of the data).
  5. Thanks again. Will let you know if I run into further problems.
  6. Here are my complete index tags: Artist, Date, Genre, All Artists, Composer, Conductor, Orchestra, Comment, Decade, Label, #AudioData:Format .logLevel = info, #AudioQuality, #AudioChannels:Channels, *RecentAdded, *RecentPlayed What would you change?
  7. Hi Stefano, I put in what I thought are the correct settings in minimserver, but these don't seem to display. I am including some attachments but see my index tags are not displaying fully: Here they are: Index Tags: Artist, Date, Genre, All Artists, Composer, Conductor, Orchestra, Comment, Decade, Label, #AudioData:Format .logLevel = info, #AudioQuality, #AudioChannels:Channels, *RecentAdded, *RecentPlayed Attached are my settings. Are these correct? If so, what else do I need to do?
  8. Marcin, Is there any way you can add an icon designating if a file is multichannel (5.0 or 5.1)?
  9. The Grateful Dead is an acquired taste. At first I didn't think much of them, especially their albums. For example, I thought that Surrealistic Pillow by the Airplane was a much better premiere album than the first dead album. In general, I didn't care much for their studio albums, which appeared to be quite toned down and the songs were not catchy enough to gather my interest. However, when I started to hear their live concerts on archive.org, things really started to open up. Still didn't think their songs were that great, but the instrumental playing was revolutionary at the time. Sometimes the playing meanders too much but overall it is highly interesting and absorbing. What fascinates me about their sound is how adaptable it is. If you get a chance listen to some of the John Scofield/Warren Haynes iterations on archive.org where he plays with Phil Lesh. Same dead songs, but the sound is very different -- at times very jazzy, other times very much like a modern version of the dead. Still am more of a fan of the Allman Brothers and also very much enjoy the Eric Clapton live performances available on YouTube.
  10. How do you image jpg images to the mkv file so that while the file plays you can see the jpg image.
  11. Hi Chris, I'm using a zidoo z2000 pro which has support for all imaginable file types. I have no problem playing any of the TRPTK downloads as full albums, but problems with A Shade of Blue, which is 10 individual mp4 files.
  12. I downloaded this file and the sound quality is indeed very good. However, the file contains 10 different mp4 downloads. When I try to play the whole album, it only seems to play the first track. To hear the second one, I have to manually select the second track. How do I get the whole album to play without having to manually select each file?
  13. "This is trickier now than it will be very soon. See this HDMI passthrough setting linked below." Chris, I just installed the Mac Sequoia beta which has support for Dolby Pass Through. Problem solved.
  14. Chris: how do you set up your system to do this. I have a mac studio connected to a denon X4800H receiver. When I try to play music from the apple music, I can't seem to get any sound to come out. I set the output on the Mac to HDMI, but am having no luck. Any advice on how I can get this to work?
  15. Hi Marcin, Is there any chance you could create a filter for multichannel (5.0; 5.1 files)?
