  2. Thanks to all of you who have attempted to help. SQFirst: I have attempted to access SwOS in RouterOS by going to System and selecting RouterBoard and then Settings and selecting SwOS in BootOS, then hitting apply and ok. At that point I select Reboot, but instead of rebooting in SwOS, a new window opens in Winbox asking me to hit connect again then it fails to connect. Audiophilac: I don't know if this is what you are asking but the ethernet cable attached to the CRS-305 is plugged into 1 of 2 wall jacks in my media room. I have tried both jacks and they work fine.
  3. I am using the dual rate Finisars FTLX1475D3BCV with the CRS-305 and have tried them both with Auto-negotiate on and off and it makes no difference. the Optical Module indicates the link has been made and so does Router OS and yet the computer to which it is attached via RJ45 doesn't appear on the network. If I run the Finisars between the Etheregen and the Optical Module, they work fine, but if I use them from the Microtik switch to either device, they don't. I have also tried using 1G SFPs from the switch to the Optical Module and here too, the module indicates the link has been made but the computer doesn't appear on the network. I had hoped that SwOS might help but I can't get the device to open in SwOS
  4. Thanks for your response. Unfortunately the information on Microtik's website has not been helpful (and yes, I did set the device as DHCP). I've put in a request for their technical support but have not yet received a response. The fact that rebooting causes the device to lose its ethernet connection through the RJ45 port makes me wonder if there is a password issue or if the device is defective in some way. The bottom line is that it won't reboot into SwOS and even rebooting into RouterOS won't work unless the device is reset and I am back at square one.
  5. I am essentially computer illiterate and this is my first attempt to set up a managed switch. Since a number of you use this Microtik switch and since these Finisars are known to work with the Etheregen and Sonore Optical Module, I hope someone can offer some guidance. I have tried using WinBox to set up the switch in Router OS. The switch recognizes the Finisar transceivers and the Optical Module has the green link light on, but the computer attached to it does not appear on the network. The same is true of a second fiber patch with Finisar transceivers attached to an Etherregen, with the B side attached to a Bricasti M3 dac. Everything seems to be connected correctly but the M3 fails to appear on the network. In RouterOS I have turned auto negotiate off on the 2 ports being used, set them to 1G and full duplex but the connections aren't working despite resetting the switch at least 15 times. I have also tried repeatedly to set the switch to boot in SwOS but am unable to do so. I have followed the instructions carefully but once I reboot the device in SwOS, the RJ45 ethernet connection to the port is lost and I can no longer log on to the device without resetting it yet again, which them brings me back into RouterOS. I have done this at least 15 times. So my questions are: 1) what other settings can I try in Router OS that might get the connections to the EtherRegen and Optical Modules to work properly (besides turning off auto-negotiate, setting them to 1g and full duplex)? 2) is there some other way of booting the device into SwOS which might help me to get everything working properly?
  6. I had similar difficulties using convolution filters from Accurate Sound and the Ubacch filter so I switched to using a direct connection from server to dac, via usb to ddc to AES. Works great and significant improvement in sound quality.
  7. Does anyone know if there is a compatibility issue when using Finisar FTLX1475D3BCV transceivers with the Trendnet TEG-S562 unmanaged switch (2 10G SFP+ ports and 4 2.5G rj45 ports)? I have used the Finisars successfully in the past between a Sonore Optical Module and a Etheregen but when I run fiber from the Trendnet to either the Optical Module or the ER I get no internet connection (I am using the proper fibre patch and everything is connected properly). I went with this Trendnet switch instead of the Mikrotik CRS305 because it is unmanaged and I am concerned that setting up the Mikrotik might be difficult for a novice like me, but since the Finisars are known to work with the Mikrotik, I might need to take the plunge. Any suggestions?
  8. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I'll give them a try.
  9. The track # are there but they are out of sequence e.g. 11, 15, 21, 23. I have clicked on the edit metadata button but it doesn't give me the option to edit the track numbers. How does one edit the metadata for those tracks/albums to work properly within the standard"?
  10. I apologize if this question has already been raised and answered: I just started using Audirvana Studio both for Qobuz and local storage but have found that the order of tracks on some albums in local storage are out of sequence. This is a problem for albums of classical music. How do I go about getting the tracks into proper numeric order? Roon does this almost flawlessly.
  11. Thanks Stefano, that finally dawned on me too. After restart, icon turned green and and the library showed up in the JPlay app so I think I am in business. It is really very kind of you to take the time to help out a fellow Newbie
  12. Ok, I found music note icon with a yellow background but now it has is greyed out
