Apologies if this was discussed before, but I could not find anything. The Client looses the connection almost always after a couple of minutes, especially if window in the background. This pronounced when streaming Qobuz in which case, the next song is not played. I have only IPv4. Would this be better with ip6? or what could be the reasons? Cheers Tom

you win11 installs runs 179 processes, 4k threads and many handles. My server2019 is a bit leaner ;-)

ok, that was a local 44kHz AIFF file ... and thanks for the rest. I know you explained before ;-) but I only got it now ... ;-) -

Hi @Miska why is one buffer (in or out) empty? it shows samples in my NAA window (2048). I can set this with a control app for my DAC. So this is the HW buffer of the DAC? There is also a line "ASIO output buffer size with 524288. What is that number? Short buffer: unticked, grey, ticked. what's the difference? Thanks much Tom -

Optical Network Configurations

Guys, digital packages are neither degraded not lost (unless you have a serious issue). There is error correction and TCP retransmit etc. A word document NEVER arrives with some words/letters changed. Ever. (unless you have actual data corruption on a bigger scale, but this is rare). IT anticipates that some bits are lost here and there and provides fixes. So a NORMAL ethernet WILL NOT LOOSE ANY DIGITAl information. PERIOD! I hope I paraphrase John Swenson correctly, the only two possible sources of problems when transmitting digital data is: - Common noise which is a parasitic signal which runs in parallel to the actual data signal - Jitter which translates during DA conversion into "sound issues". Jitter in the digital domain is obviously not an issue. A word document does not have more issues when transmitted over 10mbit vs gigabit... We can't conflate challenges in digital with analog world. Digital is indeed "it works or it doesn't" and that can be fairly controlled and measured. The analog world by definition has infinite issues/challenges/truths/expressions... Comments? -

by which standard? audiophiles or engineers? seriously...I never had an audiophile rj45 cable, but would avoid it for many reasons... -
Optical Network Configurations

Hi @jabbr I ack that my comments might be a bit trolling...the sentence "Modern Ethernet doesn't transmit differential mode noise nor jitter" was a bit absolute, and I missed the biggest part of the discussion to put it in context and also missed your more relative parts. My bad !! Now I have two genuine questions: - If you have, lets say, 1 SFP and two SFP+ transceivers in a MikroTik 305, will all connections fall back to 1GB, or will the connections between the two devices behind the SFP+ transceivers run at 10GB - Is there a preference or even a "consensus" of a good PCIe card with a SFP+ cage? Which controller is favorable? Cheers Tom -

As little on A side as possible or not? I have a HQPlayer setup with NAA. All works fine. The NAA is directly on the B side. But I have a switch upstream on the A side of ER which switches HQPlayer signal and a Wifi access point (internet, home network). Wonder what the experiences of others are having rather 2 RJ45 on A side of ER (from HQP and Wifi) or going through an upstream switch combining into 1 RJ45 going into A side. Meaning, do we think there is something to gain by having only ONE RJ45 at A side? makes sense? -
Every time people try to establish a standard, there is one more variation in the wild ;-) ok, not every time...but to many times...

I have Crimson 640 and 880 monos and 710 pre. Crimson is imho not just a bargain for the delivered quality but also in absolute terms some of the best equipment money can buy. These amps are refined over the last 30+ years and are as good as it gets ... dont let the small form factor deceive you. These are heavy weights
