amsco15 replied to The Computer Audiophile's topic in Article Comments
Big fan of Sonore. Currently running the opticalRendu deluxe with a farad PS, I do love it. BTW, previous generation Signature Rendu SEs are upgradable via Sonore. I think $995.00. -

Introducing the Sonore opticalRendu Deluxe

I own an opticalRendu Deluxe fed by OM1 fiber and a opticalModule Deluxe. Every time I initiate a reboot from within the device app (IP address), the opticalRendu does not comes back on to the network. I usually only initiate a reboot after a software update. To bring back full functionality, I have to pull the 7V power and hard reboot. It comes back after a hard reboot quickly, 30-40 seconds or so. Any ideas? Anyone else? It's a minor issue but doesn't seem right. Otherwise, problem free operation. -
Can we get a little more info on the all-in-one unit? For example, more details on the power supply? Is it the same quality as Sonore Audiophile Linear Power Supply? Thanks!

Has anyone attempted to polish their Signature Rendu SE faceplate? don't know how (only used microfiber to dust), but my faceplate has lots of micro scratches on the piano black finish. It's not terrible but my gear sees a decent amount of sunshine through a south facing window. I can see the smudges from my listening position. There are a lot of video on polishing piano black car parts. Seems like it would work. I would mask any lettering. Thanks!!

Release of Sonic Orbiter Operating System v2.9 for the Rendu Series

I posted this in the incorrect thread (Sonore opticalRendu....apologizes). I think this belongs in the OS 2.9 thread. I believe there is a gapless playback issue with OS 2.9 in MPD/DLNA. Below is based upon a couple steps over the last few days: First I have a new issue using JRiver over DLNA. This has ALWAYS worked on my network/system until now. My first play (after switching from Roon) was white noise. Cleared the queue and started play again, all seemed good. Now, there is a very brief pause at the 20 seconds to remain mark of each song. OS 2.9 (latest), JRiver/jremote (latest), signature rendu SE, PS Audio DSD mkii DAC. Second I believe the issue is a gapless problem. Only occurs on live music (or I assume abbey road) using JRiver/dlna. Gapless works fine in Roon. Ug, who knows where the problem is. Think the issue revolves around the SetNext function. JRiver allows me to disable SetNext (for broken renderers). Disabling SetNext moves the pause (tick) to the beginning of the next track (right at the transition), from the 20 seconds left point. Finally I just re-installed 2.8. gapless play works as it should. None of the issues described above. Thanks, Dale -
Will almost certainly update my Signature Rendu SE!!

Release of Sonic Orbiter Operating System v2.9 for the Rendu Series

Anyone having trouble with DLNA playback on 2.9? Worked perfect with 2.8. I have used JRiver for years. I can’t get my signature rendu SE to show up in JRiver (also doesn’t show up on a DLNA analysis program called white bear). I have the same settings as before…nothing. Some info in no particular order: MPD/DLNA is active (at least when trying to get JRiver to work) Rebooted the router, etc. Tried shutting off defender on my music server (dedicated win 10 machine) I do have compatibility mode selected on the Rendu. Tried clearing DLNA cache and resetting mdp. Rebooted the Rendu a few times…I get a green light on the back on the Rendu. I use a latest version optical module fed from a simple unmanaged netgear switch with a cat 6 patch cord I have DLNA enabled in JRiver (just like before)…. I have 24 bit audiophile renderer selected in JRiver (just like before) with all the DLNA options selected under advanced my Rendu sees my PSA DAC as reported under DAC diagnostics. Yes, I see the Rendu on my network by typing in its ip address. other DLNA devices, like Samsung TVs show up without issue. Roon works fine. I do use both programs and switch back and forth often. thanks for any ideas. edit: I had the Rendu name as Dale’sRendu (also tried Dale’s Rendu). The Rendu software does not like the apostrophe. Showed up as soon as I removed it. I don’t recall what I called the Rendu in 2.8 but likely used the apostrophe. little more info for completeness, the Samsung tv, I mention above, is called Andrea’s TV, shows up in JRiver just fine. Obviously no big deal but something interesting I think. Software is always fun.
