By the way, when looking for a new mSD card to image the firmware, the SP Gaming 128g was one of the cheapest options on Amazon at $19.99. I bought the same card and noticed the same results here. It was a waste of money. :( _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Audio link: sMS200Neo > T+A Dac8 DSD > Audiopax L50T > Audiopax M50U > Boenicke W8 Audio software: Roon Server + HQPlayer Embedded Cables: Transparent Power Link MM/MM2 + Pangea Audio AC-9SE MK2 + Curious Evolved USB + Calixtre XLR v2 + Kimber Kable 8TC Accessories: PS Audio Powerplant P15, SOtM sPS500 Link to comment
ClothEars
So version 0.5.62 is now available with quite a few changes. MPD setup no longer offers user settings for the Audio Buffer. So Buffer Size, Buffer Before Play, etc are no longer available. I assume MPD defaults are being utilized. In System Config the CPU Latency Tune now comes with various selections such as none, hpc compute, latency performance, Network latency, network throughput and throughput performance. I have no idea what the settings mean or do so hopefully @MayfromSOtM and other users could offer some insight. Anyway the upgrade process runs smoothly and sounds fine. Link to comment
ClothEars
Whoops - should have read the SOtM news page before posting. They provide a summary of perceived changes to the presentation depending on which System Tune setting you choose. I'm still at a loss as to how they work but I'm assuming they are filters of some sort. Link to comment
creativepart
I "think" I like NO Tune best. The differences are pretty minute on my system. I like that I can change the CPU Mhz and the System Tune without rebooting. So you can pretty quickly run through the whole set. I'm running 528hz and No Tune. Sounds clear, clean and well balanced. But then the other "Tunes" don't sound all that different. ClothEars
I'm a bit confused. I thought the CPU Frequency controls were used to match up with your PC or music server. Can anyone shed some light on this control? Link to comment

Jean Plum
It was ever thus with SOtM. They presumably spend '000's of hours developing this, and then the notes are so infuriatingly vague. Can't they just employ a technical editor/translator even if just to get the issue notes correct. FWIW, my processor is 2701mhz, so which CPU frequency do I use ? Link to comment

stefano_mbp
AFAIK there is no relation at all between sms200 cpu frequency and pc/media server frequency … Stefano My audio system Link to comment
Philippe Bill
the CPU frequency is that of the SOtM sMS200 how would it be otherwise ? Link to comment
creativepart
Yes, I've always assumed it was controlling the "speed" of the CPU in the SMS200. It has nothing to do with the PC- of course we're not even connected to the PC but to the network. Oepsie
There is a system information link under settings.. if you go there, you can double check how the cpu clock speed is affected by the parameter. Link to comment

Thank you very much for clarifying that. I will have to experiment with the settings to see if there is any audible differences. Link to comment
