Need testers for Eunhasu Alpha version no.0.5.61

Recommended Posts

No transcode. Native DXD file 24/352.8 either fed by JRiver MC30 to the SOtM and than the Aqua La Voce S3 DAC

OR

I use M.A.L.P to select DXD file direclty from the NAS and play them to the SOtM and the Aqua La Voce S3 DAC

DXD file playback works perfectly with my SOtM at 528Mhz or higher.

For the test I used these two albums I bought in 24/352.8 resolution:

AMULET - Michael Moore & Paul Berner

LOVE YOU MADLY - Live at Bubba's - Monthy Alexander

The last time my SOtM sMS-200 Ultra Neo running at 312Mhz "completely froze" and would not respond to any commands - not even the power off switch on the front - was when I had a browser tab that was running euhasu while running the cpu at lower frequency. I have read that at low cpu frequency, the cpu of the SOtM can not keep up with playing the music and updating the euhasu page at the same time.

Since then I have made sure no browsers in all my device would  open a euhansu tab at start up. And since then...I can enjoy flawless low frequence cpu playback up to 24/192 with ZERO euhansu page running.

Anyway, but for changing the set up of euhasu, there are no need to run it all the time.

When I run euhansu to perform a change

1 - I run euhasu and apply a change (like to set frequency to 144Mhz) and save the changes

2 - I reboot the euhasu to and go back in the config page to confirm my change has been kept

3 - I power off the SOtM

4 - I close the browser running euhasu

5 - I power on the SOtM

6 - I stream the music to the SOtM

This provides stable UDP/DLNA playback at 144Mhz but may not work with Roon.

Has anyone tested DSD file playback at lower CPU frequency?

I have started my DSD playback tests with a DSD64 album (Bill Evans trio - Sunday at the village vanguard)

I use the UPD/DLNA service

CPU frequency: 144Mhz

Music file source: JRiver MC30

I will also test DSD128 and 256 later on.

same experience with:
RoonReady, CPU :144Mhz, Link Speed :100, IPV6 :disable,
dac: power off for +- 12 hours

----------
in the meantime everything works perfectly (new SD cart)
RoonReady
original setting 5.62
CPU: 144Mhz

DSD64 playback is no go at 144Mhz and 312Mhz in my set up with the UPD/DLNA service with music fed directly from my Synology NAS with the playback controlled by Mconnect.

At 144Mhz I've heard short burst of scratchy noise mixed with the music...and at 312Mhz, the sound was clean BUT..my SOtM simply completely "froze" during playback that required a power off and on of the SBooster Power Supply to bring it back to life as the front power swicht would not respond nor blink to network traffic.

Bonjour

Since my last post here of two weeks ago I tested various lower CPU frequencies and here are my findings in my use case:

Service: UPD/DLNA streaming Qobuz Studio (CD & Hi Res)

System tune: Latency Performance

Eunhasu NOT running in any browsers

CPU Frequencies:

 - 528Mhz - All good, perfectly stable, no hiccups with all type of files playback - The SOtM will be kept at this CPU frequency

-  312Mhz - Digital clicks can be heard and the sMS-200 Neo Ultra will freeze within 5 to 10 mins of playback start - always !

- 144Mhz - Sound is very good, will never freeze but at times scratchy noises and short hesitations will affect the playback

the story never ends...
last night, I turn off my dac, the sMS-200 stays on (and is visible on the network)
this morning, the sMS-200 is frozen! .. turn off.. turn on.. nothing happens
solution: reset, new SD card (5.62), a new adventure begins !! but, that's enough.. I'm now going to stay on the standard 5.62 configuration and listen to music.. SOtM may come with a version 5.7 or 5.8 ??

Yes, just tried your settings, Philippe, (also with Roon feed) - sounds good - but then I didn’t tune into the previous settings, so no comparison claims  😀

I’ll give it a couple hours of listening and flick back to IPV6 On, 1000 and No Tune for comparison later…

Initial sounds good, but on my system, my ears

and a few swaps back and forth, I’ll stick with SOTM config

but I much appreciate your testing and getting me to try; there are clear differences that will be more or less beneficial depending on the system

regards
Andy

Yes, it's a bit daunting to have so many parameters to change - and each individual one having incremental impact!

I have Focal Diablo Utopia speakers which are very revealing - many say far too bright - and I found the SOtM suggested settings less forward and bright sounding to my ears
