Iving
10 hours ago, Superdad said: We just watched the opening of the Triple Crown this weekend. Oh wait, that's horse racing not clock racing... Our most venerated example is the annual Rugby Union one – in which The Triple Crown is earned only when a Home Nation (England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland) beats the other three: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Crown_(rugby_union) Then there is the less calorific Snooker one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Crown_(snooker) I think yesterday I was too obsessed with my own Triple output AD clock – now as near to me as Birmingham UK according to tracking – to realise Martin was talking about a *single* output Triple Crown. Of course his thinking made immediate sense to me once I cottoned on. Could blame Adrian for his nomenclature - but Q. Once you have appointed your Triple Crown in the hierarchy of things, what can you do when you offer a product with 3 outputs? A. Don't sport a Triple Triple Crown! Link to comment
Popular Post Johnnydev
After 10 days of Afterdark giesemann EVA in use on the EtherRegen: The EtherRegen has been in use with a Farad super3 since its inception and using it from B> A. Great upgrade. I am not using a PC or NAS in my system. I stream alone, internet radio and via Qobuz HI-FI sublime + and watch and stream via my TV (via AQ diamond optical) For my Audio/TV installation I use a separate powergroup and a separate earth stake for this purpose. Everything connected in such a way that ground loops over power and Ethernet cables etc. cannot occur. All devices in this chain are also connected with LPSs, not any SMPS. The addition of the Afterdark Giesemann EVA OCXO clock after 10 days of burn-in: I could repeat what has been written already as positive so far, I agree with that. I have seen my list of improvements grow every day. Core findings are: more layering, details, fast, sweet / calm, correct, more natural, nicer voices, more width and depth, great resolution, more musical, more emotion, more high-end (whatever that may be) Everything more and better, haven't experienced anything negative yet. More dynamics, now I sometimes startle by turning on voices, drums, guitar strings, etc. They come in from nowhere, tight, undistorted, “hard” as they should. Very nice. If I have to sum it up so far, it is that it is no different, but quite better in all areas! Even with internet radio, which I would not have expected in advance. Even now I still have the feeling that it is getting better every day, but it is now very difficult to be able to judge that properly, but it still promises more. So I am very happy with this step that I have taken. Sorry for my Englisch. MartinT, nichino, Cazzesman and 3 others 1 3 2 Link to comment
Popular Post Johnnydev
I have now purchased a second EtherRegen with uptone LPS 1.2. This one will be placed before the second EtherRegen with the gieseman EVA and Farad super3 attached. On the advice of Adrian I have from the project constellation fiber colection the Finisar FTLX1475D3BTL SFP + module from the group buy in order. This will be placed between the EtherRegens. Yesterday I also ordered the Cisco SFP-10G-AOC1m from the group buy from Adrian to be able to make a comparison here at home. I will spend at least 2 weeks between testing each change. Later on I will also test the Giesemann EVA with a FARAD Super3 instead of the Afterdark LPS. I have noticed that Adrian is a very friendly man and is very busy with his business and e-mails. Have a little compassion and patience with him. nichino and AfterDark. 2 Link to comment
Cazzesman
I swapped a few emails with Adrian about the burn in/settle in time of the Triple Crown. I got the reply that 'The Giesemann Clock will optimised in several period, 3 hours, 1 days, 7 days, 14 day, and 35 days'. Okay that is the answer supplied, but what is the science behind those time frames? What is actually happening over those days to my device? And why does it start all over again from zero if the power supply fails and the machine needs to be restarted? A mate has a DAC with a World Clock BNC input, but I'm not inclined to lend it out, to give it a try in his system, with the 35 day penalty involved. If it is not burn-in, then what is happening. Is it just the Chakra's aligning? I am dying to know the answer. Regards Cazzesman Link to comment

What I don’t understand is that Adrian claiming his clocks already has been tested for 35 days before shipping, so why a second period ? Can it be because powered off will reset burn in ? Does it make sense ? Don’t think other electronics behave like that or ? Link to comment

R1200CL, Since it is OCXO, it stabilizes in about 3 hours after the power is turned on. However, as with other high-precision oscillators, the Giesemann Clock's original characteristics gradually emerge over several tens of hours. Since the power consumption is small, we recommend to keep Giesemann Clock power on all the time. Thanks and have a nice weekend. Popular Post MartinT
I wasn't sure where to post next as I have two AfterDark clocks and both the ER and Mutec reclockers. AfterDark King feeding the EtherREGEN, powered from 12V Coherent upgraded Weiliang. AfterDark Emperor Triple Crown feeding the Mutec, powered from 12V Coherent QP-1. This is the first time I have setup for dual clocks each feeding their own reclocker. Over using just the Emperor Triple Crown feeding the Mutec, my first impression: very smooth delivery. Second impression: more detail than I've ever heard before. Deeper soundstage. Noticeable focus to the music. Very tight bass. Low, low noise floor. Easier on the ear even with fierce recordings. Incredibly deep and tight bass. Something more from every recording I've listened to. This is streaming with Qobuz Studio. It has similar characteristics to when I was double clocking with the BG7TBL, especially in timing, but on steroids with far greater depth, edge detail, timing, everything! It shows how much phase noise reduction improves the sound. I need to let it all settle now. This is a very good base to work from. I ended up swapping the clocks while my wife was in the loo. After a few hours in many areas it's already better than what I was getting before with the Queen. Improved sound staging, softer and more natural sounding allowing you to hear through the sound rather than sounding recorded. Yeah, basically all the Queen had and then some. Experience with the Queen tells me it will improve a lot further yet :D R1200CL and AfterDark. 1 1 Link to comment
Mjw21a
I've a custom double shielded clock cable coming using vintage Western Electric wire. Should have that next week. Will be interesting to see what change that makes too vs my current Tchernov Special clock cable. ;) Link to comment

Mjw21a
Well, the Western Electric clock cable has been a resounding success. The result has been pure magic. I'm listening to albums that I haven't enjoyed for years again. Just spectacular. A tiny bit less detailed than the Tchernov Special clock cable but it's just so incredibly natural sounding. Smooth and refined with better tonality to instruments and voices. The improved tonality makes the speakers just disappear. Spectacular result. Still some burn in to go as the WE wire was new old stock. Completely unused. AfterDark. 1 Link to comment

Popular Post Freddiekaberman
Hi to all, For the last 12 months or so, I have been running an ER with a BG7TBL, each fed by a separate LHY Audio LPS plugged into a Niagara 5000. This combo breathed new life into my Naim NDS which I have owned for many years. I recently installed an AfterDark Emperor Signature SE, which arrived very promptly here in UK thanks to Adrian's excellent service. I chose this version as it sits more or less in the middle of the range and looks like a sweet spot in price/performance for my system. It has had 6 weeks or so to settle in and I am happy to report that it performs according to all the good things we read here. I won't wax lyrical about the sound, because I came to the conclusion that the higher the clock performance, the lower the system noise floor, and the SQ follows by becoming better in just about all areas. For me, a small improvement was immediately apparent, and it improved very significantly over the first few days, up to a week or so. I personally find AB testing a bit hit and miss in this ethernet area, but after a month with the AD, I tried the ER on its stock clock and whilst it still performs very well, the value of adding the AD clock is very clear and takes performance into a different league. The SQ gain in my system simply allows me to get more involved with the music and closer to my favourite artists. That I think is what we are all here for! I would add that from my own experiments at home, even with clean power from the LHY/Niagara combo, and a very nice pure silver star quad/ JSSG shielded DC cable, the clock seems responsive to better AC power cables. I have tried generic cable, a nice DIY Oyaide/Furutech job and currently an AQ Thunder. Noticeable improvements at each step. AQ Thunder a bit over the top maybe, and one could argue for a higher level AD clock and lower level AC cable, but worth experimenting depending on your domestic AC situation?
