1. Or you could just use Roon ;) Seriously though, I agree with your request. It sure looks like you’ve put considerable effort in this workaround. I think ideally Qobuz would allow users to edit the metadata of their favourites, store it in the cloud, and JPlay could link with that so that users’ preferences content would be displayed appropriately. It sure looks like services like Qobuz are going in that direction. No doubt they are aware that label provided metadata is a mess. Hopefully JPlay will be able to support that.
2. Unfortunately, not on a L1/L2. I'd love to see this feature added to the Lumin server software if possible.
3. I wish I had enough time in my day to read all the threads/post on various forums, but I don’t. Over 200 pages on this thread alone. No harm in a duplicate post though. Who knows, maybe I wasn’t the only one who didn’t see your post.
4. Interesting post Peter. For those curious in comparing 24, 32 bit, dsd, check out this blog entry https://www.highdeftapetransfers.ca/blogs/news/what-we-hear-with-dxd-32-bit-files There’s some sample tracks to download and compare.
5. Also curious to know why 32-bit floating point WAV playback? I can wrap my head around the benefits of 24-bit i.e. greater dynamic range and lower noise floor but 32 bit seems massive over kill. Re WAV vs FLAC, I know some folks have suggested WAV sounds better than FLAC. Not sure I can tell the difference when I've set minimserver to transcode FLAC to WAV.
6. The latest 1.0.5. Issue has resolved itself. It took some time but JPlay picked up the L1. Not sure why it took a few hours but it's been working fine since.
7. JPlay will not detect my Lumin L1 as a library whereas my non Lumin apps such as Linn detect it no problem. I’ve tried refreshing manually and rebooting my iPad. i suspect it’s a similar issue that affected earlier versions of JPlay not detecting Lumin streamers. Is there something else I should be trying? Otherwise, perhaps Peter and Marcin can look into this. It’s not a deal breaker, just curious if there’s a possible fix.
8. I believe it is. It should read: Comment.displayFormat={$*infoFileURI^Digital booklet$comment} The booklet icon should appear to the right of the “play” and “add queue“ buttons on the selected album page.
9. Just a quick shout out to Marcin and Peter for the recent Jplay & Lumin updates. Jplay detects my X1 without issue now—thanks for that. I’m liking this app! It’s blazing fast and sounds better than any other control app I’ve tried. I can understand it sounding better than Roon due to all the network traffic that Roon requires but sounding better than Lumin’s app for example? I don’t quite understand that. Even more weird is increasing the update time in settings seems to sound better. Still experimenting with it but curious if anyone else has messed around with that setting and noticed any change in sound quality. There’s some operational quirks with Jplay that I’m working through but I’m being patient and keeping an open mind. Overall, I like the layout of the app and find it easier to navigate than something like Lumin’s app. I also discovered that Jplay can open liner note pdf’s on my local network (minimserver /Synology NAS). There’s a ton of potential here I think with this app.
10. No. Linn app finds my X1 no problem. Bubble on my Android finds the X1 without issue as well. Lumin app always works, it’s just UI I’m not thrilled about. But it’s free. Can’t complain there.
11. App on my iPad still can’t find my Lumin. All apps killed, rebooted iPad still can’t find my X1. Considering that some folks have no issue with app finding their Lumin streamer and others do would seem to indicate there may be something unique with their network setup? Any other control app I have has no problem finding the X1 i.e. Roon, Linn, Lumin app. Log just shows discovery of my modem/router and minimserver. Plays fine on my iPad, just won’t connect to X1.
12. Same problem with my X1. JPLAY can’t find it. It did show up briefly after I hit refresh several times but it disappeared after a spell. Tried rebooting etc, no dice. Anybody have any suggestions? Otherwise, I like this app so far. Blazing fast as Chris noted.
