We were 2/3rds through development of a very advanced new USB isolation and reclocking solution--drawing on the unique techniques and technology of the EtherREGEN--when we were forced to pause to devote all engineering efforts to EtherREGEN Gen2. As soon as EtherREGEN Gen2 is headed to production @JohnSwenson will be able to turn his attention back to finishing our special take on USB. Definitely will be higher performance than the present chip isolators/hub-chip based boxes seen around a lot lately. [Those are frequently based on either the recent Texas Instruments or Analog Devices high-speed USB isolators. Those are fine and indeed we could have very quickly issued replacement for our own pioneering ISO REGEN (which was based on the long out-of-production Silanna isolator and a USB 3.1 hub chip and Crystek 575 clock), but the piece we are working on (to be in same case size as EtherREGEN and with support for external reference clock) is far more radical and will deliver--without exaggeration--the lowest jitter and noise of any USB device on the planet. treitz3, pl_svn, Exocer and 5 others 1 7 UpTone Audio LLC Link to comment
rjc1845
I picked up an ER and can’t get it to work with Roon. Path is Asus Router>Cat6>ER>Cat6>Grimm MU2 Roon server/Streamer. The clock is set to internal. No lights at all on A side, Flashing green/solid yellow on B side. As soon as I remove ER from chain everything works perfectly. Any ideas on what the problem could be. Technomad
Router on the B side, Grimm on A? Have you tried different cables? I’ve found that some devices don’t like screened cat6:7 cables Link to comment

If you do not get an amber LED flashing at above-right of the 'A' side EtherREGEN port you have your router fed into (amber for Gigabit or green at top-left LED for 100Mbps), then the EtherREGEN is not receiving a good network feed to pass to your Grimm on the 'B' side. So please focus on getting that upstream side working. Be sure that the Clock switch was set to INT prior to applying power to the EtherREGEN. We also received your direct inquiry and I'll phone you in a little while. --Alex C. UpTone Audio LLC Link to comment

FYI: Spoke to him and problem is solved. (Likely just an issue with the network feed cable into the 'A' side.) He is happily playing music now. rjc1845
Problem solved.......it was the Cat6 cable connected from router to ER. Thank you for the call Alex. Link to comment
Mops911
As little on A side as possible or not? I have a HQPlayer setup with NAA. All works fine. The NAA is directly on the B side. But I have a switch upstream on the A side of ER which switches HQPlayer signal and a Wifi access point (internet, home network). Wonder what the experiences of others are having rather 2 RJ45 on A side of ER (from HQP and Wifi) or going through an upstream switch combining into 1 RJ45 going into A side. Meaning, do we think there is something to gain by having only ONE RJ45 at A side? makes sense? Link to comment

Meaning, do we think there is something to gain by having only ONE RJ45 at A side? I have an oMD connecting my ER via optical cable. A television and Chromecast Audio streamer also connect to the ER A-Side. I have tried disconnecting the TV and CCA a few times to see whether they affect the sound of my B-side streamer. Connected or disconnected, I heard no difference at all. Neither ethernet cable on the A-side is shield-tied, which may not matter given the ER moat, but that is what I chose to implement, to avoid any potential for a ground loop.
