Audiophile router configuration
Markus8 replied to Windows X's topic in Networking, Networked Audio, and Streaming
What are your experiences with activation/deactivation of EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) or Layer-2-acceleration? -
Interesting to hear! Especially as some audiophile users tend to argue this feature increase jitter / timing problems on the DAC, latency etc.
-
When using a T.I. 179X as DAC in a Devialet Expert which just allows for maximum input PCM 192/24 or DSD64 what format would be preferred?
-
I checked all folders but somehow couldn’t find it. Can you send me a PM here?
-
Oh sorry it’s a Sony BDP-S490/S590
-
Is there a current tutorial for pioneer devices?
-
Have you had a chance to view my log data / email?

LUMIN - Audiophile Network Music Player
Markus8 replied to psme's topic in Networking, Networked Audio, and Streaming
Very nice to hear. Are you also in exchange with Qobuz about the integration with Qobuz Connect which finally is landing soon. -
Will do so. Where is the log file located on the Mac? (already sent you in the meantime the data via "tools - log viewer")
-
Can I check / send you the logs of HQPlayer Desktop so you can get a better understanding what might happen, cause this?
-
The WiFi is done via a Fritz.box 6660 router which has QoS enabled (https://en.avm.de/service/knowledge-base/dok/FRITZ-Box-6660-Cable/228_Prioritizing-internet-access-for-important-network-applications-and-devices-in-the-FRITZ-Box/ )

Yes HQPlayer is running on latest MacBook Air M3 and connected via WiFi. Where / How can I enable this feature?
-
I am on the latest MacOS.
-
Thank you very interesting! I have a FritzBox with IPv6 support and using the NAA IPv6 for Output settings in HQPlayer thins work, though I get shown this How can I fix/activate this? Running HQPlayer on latest MacOS.
-
@Miska Is there a performance difference / improvement when using the default (IPv4) or the IPv6 version?
-
When I use the NAA image on the Holo Red, is there a web interface to access / configure ? Meaning when I upload the latest 5.02 image my current license will be lost, right? So I need to upload the license file again - is that done via web interface or via HQPlayer Desktop?
-
So apart from the „also bringing …“ what are the (major) improvements ?
-
Read elsewhere the NAA 5.0.2 for Holo Red is a "major update" - so what improvements are included in that release?

Excellent to hear! I have already been in contact with Mitch once and look forward to tweak my setup with his vast experience. Regarding your setup, with amount of correction you mean frequency curve correction? Thus time alignment was fully corrected? -

I absolutely agree and very much appreciate your feedback. I have also tried convolution filters in my setup with super sharp center image or really great tight bass. Though it’s still overall lacking that soul, warmth of a guitar etc. so also somewhat narrowing things and not letting the notes breath. Hope that is something that makes sense to you :-D So regarding your vast experience that is something that should be possible to solve with your approach? -

Sorry, should have mentioned that. So it's rooms with a with glas fronts, acoustically hard walls (often ferroconcrete) and somewhat a quite "plain looking" overall interior. Maybe some like https://www.pinterest.de/pin/703756183311018/ or https://pengoodet.live/product_details/34622122.html Hope you get what I mean? Sure I tried a few measures like a thick wool carpet, a library full of books at the rear wall etc. in my living room which is also having an open kitchen area like many rooms these days. But when I clap my hands it still sounds quite acoustically hard. Also the interaction with the ceiling, hardwood floor etc. contributes to this (but that is what many like me are not able to adapt). -

@mitchco To what extent can DRC also address the problem of long reverberation times in many modern rooms? Also meaning, without getting RT to a certain degree via treatment will any DRC filter always miss reaching a room‘s potential? -
Well the PhoenixNet has been long around but definitely is no longer state-of-the-art. I think it will be interesting comparing it to Network Acoustics Tempus or Ansuz etc. switches (see https://www.hifi-advice.com/blog/review/cables-reviews/reviews-digital-cable/network-acoustics-tempus/ )

I would need to have the Devialet 440 Pro on my test bench to create a correction profile for it. These are always specific to both the specific hardware device and the specific HQPlayer output format. Corrections are unique for the certain piece of hardware running at certain format. Hm getting the Devialet 440 Pro to you is not the easiest task, but definitely something to think about :) Apart from that, knowing that it runs with a T.I. 1792 DAC isn't enough to prepare a correction profile?
