LUMIN - Audiophile Network Music Player

This also happens when browsing Qobuz selected albums. If I tap on the album, and then the back button, the icon grid of Qobuz albums will jump back to top. Hope this issue gets fixed @wklie -

I'm sure he has tried that 😄 He recommends turning off all wi-fi connected devices at home when listening to music. But there are already audiophile switches (SwitchX) that accomplish this by separating the audio network. One new feature I learned is you can pinch and zoom in the Lumin app main panel to increase/decrease the album artwork icon size. -

There's a very knowledgeable Lumin user who recommends turning OFF all unused functionality in the Lumin app settings (MQA, Roon Ready, Lumin streaming), and turning off bluetooth on iPad to increase sound quality. He even listens with airplane mode set to ON. I did some testing with airplane mode ON, but it's just not a realistic usage scenario since the app stops responding (even if music is still played). -

It looks like it's still in beta testing. Any estimated launch date for iOS? -

Yes, something like that. Because usually my queue "playlist" sprawls out of control when I explore music. But it always seemed counterintuitive to me that the album tracks are displayed in the center, and then tapping on the track adds the album tracks to the playlist (in the left hand column) where they are displayed again. And the left hand column is where playback is progressing, and not in the center album view. On the Auralic app the playback queue is the center album view with the track listing, if that makes sense. -

I'm probably confused too 😀 But yes, that's what I was asking. I think I understand what the Lumin app is doing with @pl_svn explanation. Album tracks are added to the queue during playback (which Lumin calls "playlist"). Lumin app will keep adding tracks to that "playlist" until I actively overwrite the current playlist with a new one. A playlist can be curated/managed and then saved. In my personal use, the playback queue "playlist" always sprawled out of control due to the app adding every new album I listened to the playlist. I would then try to manage the playlist by deleting tracks. -

There are nuances and philosophical differences between the apps. Apple Music does automatically create a play queue when you start playing a track from an album. But that auto play queue is separate from the “add to playlist” or “add to library” functionality. Whereas on the Lumin app, the play queue can be curated and saved as a playlist, from my experience using it. -

I haven’t used Apple Music and Qobuz recently, but I’m fairly certain they work like this and use this UI paradigm. -

Then aren't you constantly managing playlists? Do you switch back to an old saved playlist of your favorites once you're done exploring music? I think you should be able to explore music without having to create, delete, and manage playlists. Or tap and hold, etc. Well I didn't know this was possible until I tried the Auralic app. I ended up exploring so much new music, I realized the Auralic and Lumin UI were different UI paradigms. -

With Auralic you can play an album without adding it to your playlists. It has a separate, non saved play queue for albums when exploring music. That was one of the best features of the Auralic app. It's all seamless. I hope Lumin can add this feature to the new revamped app @wklie -

It would be nice to have the album commentary for the Qobuz suggested albums displayed in the app. I really enjoyed that feature with the Auralic app. -

I tried this, but it just asked me if I wanted to replace my current playlist. Is there a way to play an album without adding it to the playlist? -

I don't think anything is missing, it's just the seamless/intuitive navigation found on the Auralic app. Auralic app makes it very easy to explore new music with Qobuz suggested albums. I discovered so much new music when using the Auralic app. Is there a way to play an album from the browse panel and not add it to my playlist with the Lumin app? -

I tried the Auralic Lightening app. Qobuz is seamlessly and thoughtfully integrated into the Auralic app. Auralic app has some quirks and bugs, but the UI is well thought out. Very easy to explore Qobuz recommended music. Here's hoping the Lumin UI will get overhauled one day to seamlessly integrate Qobuz recommended albums and playlists into the user experience. -
