Has anyone tried using HQPlayer on MacOS 15 Sequoia? Any effect on performance after the update?

Just tried HQPlayer Client 5.7.2 for iPad with new indicator for correction. In Play view, it doesn't seem to work, or maybe I'm misunderstanding it. It started as "disabled" when it first opened (even though app setting screen showed my DAC correction profile enabled. Then when I started playing (from Roon), it switched to "enabled". So I switched to my "none" profile in the app, and the display stayed as "enabled". Then I switched to back to my DAC correction profile, and it stayed as "enabled". When I stopped the music, it went back to "disabled" even though the app setting was still showing my DAC correction profile. As mentioned last week, I recently recreated both profiles with the latest Desktop client on Mac.
  3. My MMM1 is only 8GB, and I haven't had issues with lack of RAM, even with running Roon server on it too. But I don't do convolution or other heavy stuff, although I do use DAC correction now. If you can get a used MMM1 with 8GB cheap, it might be worthwhile to try it. I bought mine as a refurb shortly after they came out, and it has been one of the best value purchases (i.e. bang for the buck) for my system (other than HQPlayer licence itself). It is really amazing what that little box is capable of! That Apple silicon was a game-changer.

It does seem like Client (on iPad) locks HQPlayer task (on my MMM1) in to the higher CPU usage (i.e. DAC Correction profile vs. no correction profile). Might have something to do with the iPad workaround to maintain the connection, because pausing or stopping the track on iPad Client still continues to run HQPlayer task at the CPU level corresponding to playing the track, until I quit the iPad app. I tried creating brand new profiles for DAC Correction and without, just in case there were remnants of profile prior to this new feature, and still the same results.

Bass was stronger because I didn't realize it was applying the HD800 eq profile - I just realized that. 🤦‍♂️

I found my problem with the volume. I did not remove the HD800 eq when I created the DAC Correction profile. D'oh 🤦‍♂️
  7. Due to lots of optimizations which have been done by Signalyst over the past couple of years, I’m able to get to DSD512 with all input rates, using the recommended filters, and 7EC fs+512, or 7EC-light. Or DSD256 with DAC correction. Plus I’m running Roon Server on the MMM1. When I first set it up shortly after the MMM1 was released, I did a lean install by turning off unnecessary services like Siri, spotlight, iCloud, etc. but now there seems to sufficient headroom and that might not be needed. Needs an NAA to get around the limitation of DOP in MacOS.
  8. New SD card arrived. Great support from Sonore! Installed HQPlayer 5.0.0 and all is good. @vortecjr, is there any need to update SonicOrbiter now or in the future, or would I risk getting the wrong kernel again if I did?
  9. Through email conversation, Jesus has confirmed that my 2.9 is running the wrong kernel, and he said another update wouldn't fix it. He is sending me a replacement SD card. No idea how the experimental kernel got in there, because I just did the usual SonicOrbiter update last time. I should have checked the forum before because it looks like others have had similar problems back in early March. Regarding the 100Mbps limitation, I set that after I upgraded my 75' CAT6 Ethernet run from the ISP modem to the EtherREGEN with SOPT OpticalModule Deluxe and fiber, and I was having dropouts and noise even with the HQPlayer NAA image. After I downgraded the modem port from 1Gbps to 100Mbps, those problems went away. I was wondering if EtherREGEN was not happy about 1Gbps, especially while pushing out DSD512x48 to the ultraRendu, which I think is close to the limit of EtherREGEN. The CAT6 might have been throttling the streaming throughput, while the fiber allowed full bandwidth. I might try setting the port back to 1Gbps after I get the new card, but for now, 100Mbps is working fine with HQPlayer NAA 4.5.0 image and DSD512x48. I was considering just sticking with HQPlayer 4.5.0 NAA image instead of SonicOrbiter, but it doesn't look like NAA 5.0.0 is coming anytime soon to the HQP Rendu image, plus Jesus says SonicOrbiter uses the "on board low noise oscillator", which apparently HQPlayer image doesn't.
  10. diag log attached. Seems to be dropping RX packets? That number keeps increasing each time I re-check it. ultraRendu is powered by Sonore LPS with DC-5X. EtherREGEN is powered by JS-2, as is the Mac mini M1 which hosts Roon and HQPlayer. OMD is powered by ifi power2 (5v). ultraRendu with HQP NAA image instead of SonicOrbiter works fine. ultraRendu2.9-diag.pdf
  11. Running the latest 2.9 on my ultraRendu, and suddenly the sound stutters and drops out frequently (like every few seconds). The SonicOrbiter webpage interface works fine. I am using HQPlayer NAA 5.0.0 app (and no other apps). I have power-cycled or rebooted several times over the last few days, restarted the HQPlayer NAA, and tried updating SonicOrbiter (but it said there was nothing to do) with no luck. The hardware is fine, because HQPlayer's native NAA (4.5.0) works. I'm feeding the ultraRendu through EtherREGEN, and using opticalModule Deluxe from my router to the SFP cage on it. After using HQPlayer's bootable Rendu image for the last few months, I wanted to try HQPlayer NAA 5.0.0, so I installed and updated 2.9 a couple of weeks ago and it was working fine until a few days ago. I'm wondering if the 2.9 image on the card got corrupted, and if there is a way to force it to refresh the image on the SD card even though there are no updates available. Or maybe the 2.9 SD card has gone bad.

Thanks for your help. I put SonicOrbiter back in to my ultraRendu, which has HQPlayer NAA 5.0.0, and no more broken pipes so far 🙂. I left my system on overnight and it was still playing this morning. I had even pushed it back up to DSD512 (which used to have some low-level clicking). My hunch is that my problem possibly started with HQPlayer 5.7. Now awaiting NAA 5.0.0 bootable image for Rendu 😉 I still have the "no route to host" message if I use IPv6. Might be related to not being able to use localhost. I'm wondering if something is still looking at my old Mac laptop, because Roon says it is connecting to that if I don't use the MMM1 IP address. (My old laptop has been powered off for over a year and a half. Perhaps I didn't uninstall the HQPlayer licence from it?)

I forgot to add that the problem happens whether I use IPv6 or not. With IPv6, I get the message "NAA output cINetEngine:: Disco(): cISocket::SendTo():sendto():No route to host" although it still plays anyway.

    HQ Player

I am running HQPlayer 5.7.1 on Mac mini M1, and NAA 4.5.0 on ultraRendu. I also have an EtherREGEN between them (and limited the port from the router to 100Mb because I have opticalModule with fiber into EtherREGEN). All devices have fixed IP addresses, and 99 day DHCP leases. All my other devices on the network have fixed IP addresses too, and I checked that there are no conflicts. Lately, HQPlayer has been stopping in the middle of a track, around once an hour or so. Does not seem to matter if I am playing local files or streaming, running Roon in playlist mode, HQPlayer Client on repeat (for a 1 hour cable burn-in track) or drag&drop to HQPlayer desktop. I’ve turned off DAC correction but that hasn’t seemed to make a difference. Excerpt of log file is below. # 2024/05/13 18:39:02 NAA output clSocket::Send(): send(): Broken pipe ! 2024/05/13 18:39:02 NAA output clNetEngine::PushSDM(): clNetEngine::SendStreamSDM(): clSemaphore::Wait() (20495) ! 2024/05/13 18:39:02 clHQPlayerEngine::Execute(): push to FIFO failed 2024/05/13 18:39:02 Stop request (reset) & 2024/05/13 18:39:02 Stop... - 2024/05/13 18:39:02 Playback engine stopped & 2024/05/13 18:39:02 ...stopped There are no resource issues on the MMM1, and I am running DSD256 EC7-light with recommended filters into T+A DAC 200. When it happens, I usually just need to hit the Play button on whatever piece of software is running, and it starts back up. @Miska any idea what is going on?
