Yes...measurement via REW (or one of the several other programs available), creation of filters, and implementation by Roon. I'm not aware of any (non-subjective) comparisons showing that this method of correction is worse/better than running something like Dirac. Would love to see data on this if you're aware of any.

I'm a firm believer in room correction, but that can be accomplished within Roon using convolution filters, PEQ, etc. The audio can then be sent to a processor that doesn't "downgrade" the signal. No?

I don't measure the difference between 384K and 192K, except with my ears (and probably my bias).😂 So possibly the differences are minimal or even inaudible, but if possible (or practical) I want to maintain the highest resolution throughout my audio chain.

Thanks. The RME down samples to 192k for multichannel and I’m trying to avoid that. Otherwise it would definitely be a viable solution for me. MiniDSP maxes at 192k as well. The Exasound handles multichannel USB at 384k.

Did you ever come up with a solution? I want to do essentially the same thing…2.2 output (I can feed a single LFE signal to both subs, so really just 3 channels) using Roon Procedural EQ to create HP/LP filters. I’m trying to avoid multiple DA/AD conversions, and I also want greater than 192k resolution. The Exasound S88 looks like it would fit the bill, but the price tag is hefty.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I've tried these steps and Convo won't work via DLNA on MC32. I have all files converted to 192K with a single impulse file loaded in Convo. This same setup works fine in local player mode, but not in DLNA. I also can't seem to get Config files working so that I can load impluse files for all sample rates. Any ideas?

From what I've seen in the marketplace (MiniDSP, DSPeaker, etc.), most room correction DSP is done at 24/48 or 24/96 (my Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 resamples everything to 24/96). How does one rationalize that resampling against the desire for high quality DSP (say via Roon or HQPlayer). If the DSP occurs before a stand-alone DAC, the DAC is receiving a "bastardized" signal from the DSP unit. If the DSP occurs after the DAC, the DSP is changing the result of the DAC's work. I'm really struggling with this as I'm trying to design a system that incorporates room correction (I'm currently using convolution filters in Roon to good effect), bass management (I run a 2.2 stereo system and my subs don't have a HP pass-through), and an external DAC so I can use Roon/HQPlayer...I purchased a lifetime Roon license when Roon first launched. I know I can load FIR filters in HQP, so I could move that function from Roon to HQP. I also believe there's a way to handle bass management in Roon using Procedural EQ, but I have no idea how to accomplish that and there isn't any type of guide available. Roon provides for speaker distance entries, but only for the mains, not the subs. There are a couple of analog crossover products available from Behringer and DBX, but I've read that they're noisy. A MIniDSP or DSPeaker solution would be easy single box solutions, but they wouldn't be my first choice for audio quality. A solution using HQP and/or Roon would be preferable (I think). Thoughts/input?

Great article Chris, thank you for breaking down this topic. I'm a firm believer is DSP room correction, especially (and in addition to) when a room doesn't lend itself to more traditional acoustic treatment.

Sorry, I misunderstood that you wanted separate libraries within A+. I thought you wanted the ability to include multiple external libraries. As you mention, A+ combines all your external paths into a single large library.

There's a "+" sign in the lower left of the library tab. You can specify any library path you want, for as many libraries as you want. For example, my single library is : /volumes/drobo/music Music is my library folder, and each artist has his own folder under that. I could create another directory on my Drobo (or anywhere else) and add that path. Does this help?

Dan- Any input regarding the Beta signup process? Apparently several (likely many) that submitted requests did not receive any type of acknowledgement. How are we to know whether we are accepted, rejected, etc.?

MSB will be releasing a new firmware update for their Network Renderer, which allows the use of Audirvana + directly across the network. It will now be possible to select the Renderer as the audio source in A+. Prior to this release, the Renderer could be selected, but playback was not possible. The firmware update should be available within the next few days in the "Renderer Firmware" section at this link: http://www.msbtechnology.com/about-msb/support/ If you own the Renderer, you can eliminate your NAA/USB connection to take advantage of Audirvana's excellent sound quality.

I was fortunate enough to obtain a copy of the MSB Renderer firmware update in advance of its public release. Works like a charm, and sounds great. Thanks for the heads-up.
