Yes, exactly the same consideration for me. I must say, though, that I like Qobuz about 10 times more than Tidal. Providing pdf booklets and editorial content, and putting the least amount of music that I don‘t like in front of me to shovel away before I can get to what I like … Hoping for the best with Qobuz!

@austinpop, @AnotherSpin, @TRHH: Regarding the two Sibelius Symphonies cycles conducted by Osmo Vänskä, the earlier one with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, the later one with the Minnesota Symphony, all on BIS: It seems Qobuz has replaced the album versions which I had favorited previously with different versions now. They are all available on Qobuz Germany. Thank you, @TRHH, for pointing this out. And these albums are available on Tidal Germany as well, @AnotherSpin. Looking at Pentatone albums, @austinpop : For example, in the three-album series of Händel Concerti Grossi by Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, I find two of my favorites to be as before and one greyed out. Generally, I think the picture of this October 1, 2024 "happening" is strangely inconsistent, and not complete yet (of course). Scrolling through my list of favorited albums shows quite a number of greyed-out holes. I still would have to check whether these are album deletions or version substitutions. Anyway: What a mess and nuisance!

Well, these are different here in Germany: The Sibelius Symphonies by Osmo Vänskä w/ the Minnesota Orchestra as well as the Symphonies by Osmo Vänskä w/ the Lahti Symphony Orchestra have all disappeared from streaming and downloading. Too bad! I had them favorited, not purchased, can‘t see the label anymore.

A side question, please: How to recognize / know about DRM'ed music files? I mean when the fine print on the (any) download store does not easily reveal what's going on.

The e-mail says "both for downloading and streaming". So do fear for the worst.

Hi @Cornan, I checked what my JPLAY/Tidal shows for the Glass Beams album by Mahal. I cannot reproduce your observation - under my circumstances (a.o., Germany, selected Max resolution everywhere except for mobile connections which I set to CD quality), HighRes at 24/48 is shown in all views for Glass Beams. You might try logging out of Tidal and logging back in (sorry, sort of the "got enough gas" question …). Well, I have seen quite some hiccups myself in the recent past while Tidal ditched MQA and replaced everything with FLACed PCM versions. Maybe that helps …

I suppose you are answering to me ;-) … Thanks for agreeing with my request! Wrt using Roon - I did duly notice your ;) : I do have it, and my experience with it is as follows: 1. Get used to it, and started to like it. 2. Turned into disliking it, mainly for being slow at times, suffering from the dreaded "network performance issue", and for not offering what I want (e.g., I can‘t get it to show my 1,000 favorited albums on Qobuz, always stops somewhere too early; and it doesn‘t make the sorting of Qobuz favorites and playlists available in any appropriate way). 3. It came to the point where I seriously considered ditching Roon for JPLAY … 4. Only recently I got to like Roon again because I can run convolution filters by Mitch Barnett in it, including the necessary DSPing by make-up gain and clipping detection. Item 4 is hard to implement in a JPLAY environment, although I know of The Computer Audiophile‘s workaround / work in progress using a Raspberry Pi with Linux and pipewire. So, I hope for the best regarding the future of and features in JPLAY! Thanks for you support.

Yes, of course, happy to be more specific. For background, let me say up front: Somehow, several people here and elsewhere as well as myself are old-fashioned - we want to order our favorite albums on streaming services (e.g. Qobuz) just like we do order physical CDs or Vinyl LPs on a shelf. This ordering simply follows personal preferences. It can NOT exactly be provided by an automatic sorting of the favorites within any original streaming service app. The biggest obstacle is the rather diverse quality of album metadata as provided by the record companies (to say the least, I might also say that metadata vary from good to horrible). The second obstacle is that a personal preference for how to sort albums is just not represented by mechanisms like alphabetical, order of creation etc. The third obstacle is that also auxiliary services like Soundiiz are not fully helpful for our desires. Thus, people here have found a way to work around that insufficiency. I am talking only about Qobuz: Since the "Favorite Albums List" can not be handled appropriately, we retreat to creating playlists which contain only the first track of each album one wants to have in that list. Each playlist can be given a specific name, and the tracks within it can be sorted as desired. Thus we arrive at a representation of favorite albums sorted to suit. Finally, these playlists themselves can also be sorted as desired to suit the personal preferences. Following these workaround methods, we/I can create a bunch of playlists which are a personalized representation of CD/LP shelves. In my case, I get a nicely sorted sequence of Genre -> Artist -> Album. Here, "Genre" is in the playlist name, "Artist" is in the playlist name, and each "Album" is represented by its first track. All of Genre, Artist and Album can be sorted to perfectly suit my preferences. I hope to have been able to describe my use case. That's why the sorting methods Qobuz provides for playlists are of great help, in particular the "Personalized Sorting" or "Custom order" or whatever it is called. The fact that WiiM has the "Personalized Sorting" of My Playlists exposed to the user leads me to suppose that the Qobuz API provides an appropriate interface. I hope to have demonstrated sufficiently what I am talking about. Sorry for having the German versions of all apps only. What I would like you to consider, please: As a first step, just let us see the "Personalized Sorting" of My Playlists, which is stored per user somewhere in the Qobuz cloud. As a second step, you might attempt to implement the full set of actions a user can apply to My Playlists on Qobuz. Please feel free to return to me with any questions or remarks you might have. Although this feature of Qobuz seems like a particularly esoteric one, it is important to me and other folks here. The methods explained here are not originally mine, they were provided by others here.

Happily running JPLAY for iOS here - thank you @Marcin_gps for your great software! Feature request: When displaying My Qobuz Playlists, they can be ordered in predefined ways (alphabetical, by import date, by length). However, Qobuz itself also has a "custom ordering". Could you please bring that to JPLAY? I suppose the Qobuz API allows for doing that, since I just saw that custom ordering is possible in the WiiM Home App. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your response, @Marcin_gps. But I can‘t quite believe it literally is a number of seconds - 12 thousand seconds? I am tempted to guess it must be milliseconds (i.e. 12 seconds), but probably even less (like microseconds perhaps)??? Anyway, we take your "highest in theory is best" …

Does that number 1-12000 have a particular meaning in fractions of a second? Sorry if that had been mentioned before. @Marcin_gps, thanks.

First of all, I should have used the word "Queue" instead of "replay list" or similar ... sorry, my fault, coming from German ... Cf. my PM now for screenshots. Kind regards

@Marcin_gps, please let me request a new feature for JPLAY iOS. Could you add a line like "xx% played yy minutes/hours ago" to the past (i.e. played previously) tracks in the replay list? I am referring to the second tab from the Now Playing screen. xx% should be 100%, but only when it‘s precisely 100%. The "time ago" format could be minutes or even hours when played today, otherwise maybe just the date. Background: I am in the process of debugging my computer / audio system. Every so often I am encountering playback errors within a track, resulting in automatic skipping to the next track. In Roon, it is very comfortable to just let it play for a couple of hours or so, then visit the replay list and check whether all past tracks have a "100% played … ago". I think such a log indicator is very useful under any circumstances, not just for debugging. Thank you very much in advance for considering this request. I guess you don‘t mind being inspired by Roon … If you would like to see screenshots, just let me know.

If I may chime in: I think the answer to that is NO, as far as Favorited albums are concerned. Myself and others - sorry, I forgot who - had been desiring a similar feature: (a) To be able to create several lists of Favorited albums, one each e.g. for an artist; (b) to be able to sort the albums within such lists manually as one would like. The idea is being to be able to sort all Favorited albums in exactly the same way one was used to sort physical media (e.g. CDs) on a shelf. Since that is not possible (yet???), the workaround proposed by a fellow collector here - sorry, I forgot who - is to create Playlists instead of Favorited albums lists, one per artist, using the first track of each album as the entry in the playlist, and sorting these entries as per one‘s liking. @JCW6: It looks like the workaround described might be applicable to your desire, too.

upmpdcli is as it comes out-of-the-box. For my mpd settings I‘d like to defer that til Monday, sorry.

Addendum: At least with 1.0.15, 1.0.16 not tested yet.

Hi Deric, if I may chime in: I do exactly the same as you, with upmpdcli as the UPnP renderer front end to mpd. On openSUSE Tumbleweed. My setup is perfectly well-behaved.

I‘d like to say today that I‘m more and more happy with JPLAY for iOS. I get my streaming services, and - finally - I got my local library back by accessing it the way I want (i.e. including folder view without that fanatic "no no never" point of view taken by "you know who" until very recently …). @Marcin_gps, I would like to repeat my feature request: Please think about providing a true Stop button on the Now Playing screen in addition to the Pause button. Maybe an additional button, maybe give the Pause button two roles as Pause via normal tap and Stop via long-press or double-tap, whatever is best in line with common iOS GUI practices. My reason behind this is that I use JPLAY to also control an MPD player on my Linux computer. Leaving MPD paused at the end of a listening session looks a bit awkward to me.

Amidst all the - subjectively justified - frustration with how much time Qobuz Connect takes to get developed, I figured I should post something positive here. Apart from the fact that Qobuz provides an excellent match with my personal musical taste, I think there are at least two objective factors that let Qobuz stand head and shoulders above its competitors: I do like that and how Qobuz provides features beneath the pure audio: - Having lost the beautiful and informative covers of the vinyl times first to fine-printed CD booklets and then to next to nothing from your average streaming service, Qobuz provides the booklets in pdf form wherever the label houses supply them. Please keep on doing that, and try to press your suppliers / partners as much as possible! - I like the album reviews / explanatory texts as well. And I like the music magazine-like stuff provided - not all of it, but it‘s a nice addition that‘s readily available.
