  1. …. Just ordered the Pardo…I do what I’m told….😃😇😐 Wondering….heard some say the Sonore Optical Module “sounds” better than the EtherRegen…did you have the opportunity to compare these side by side?
  2. @David.. Qobuz, Hi-Res Music Evangelist Hello David, Following the recent email from Qobuz advising that some catalogue will be removed on the 1st of October, can you advise which labels will be removed...the info of this impending change without the any following details make any action on our part difficult, if not impossible. I tend to purchase any album that becomes a favourite so am seeking forwarning of this coming change. Thanks,
  3. how do we find that list...I did receive their "warning" email but, naturally, the first thought following is what portion of their catalogue is to be removed...hard to respond to the information without specifics as to labels, etc.
  4. Gents, My thanks for your contributions and advice.....Amphenol now in my system and to quote RoT69 above, they're not coming out. Tremendous sound and far lower noise floor when compared to fibre and the Finisar. Kudos to Mouser Electronics as the order was placed around 2pm PST and the cable was sent from Dallas Fort Worth to Vancouver, BC, arriving at noon today. Tremendous service !
  5. Thanks for your comments on the DAC but to clarify one point above, am looking at an LPS for the EtherRegen.
  6. Thanks for your reply as it confirms our musical impression that the Finisar was an immediately, albeit subtle, improvement over the GTEK…..here’s hoping the Amphenol has that same leap in ….? A diminishment in electrical noise or ….?…..each of these improvements are, to us, wonderfully audible but what is happening here ….? Non-audiophiles would think this is completely nutty.
  7. So the cable is leaving DFW airport as we speak into Vancouver BC by noon tomorrow …a truly modern world we live in.
  8. Yes, I know, we had that conversation...but TPardo are based overseas (Israel) and the piece must be brokered, etc....we're in SovietCanuckistan (Canada for those that didn't follow Pat Buchanan in the day) so our price before any government costs is in the $650 CAD...Happy to support Israeli business so still on the fence but Sonore seems attractive to me and Small Green a great group...Thanks for your tip about the Sonore All the best
  9. Yes, Thanks...the cables are now in the hands of UPS so at their mercy but expected in the coming day or so...but damn, trying to pull out the SPF transceiver out of the ER is a task...that sucker is so very hot...(but worth every effort as my system sounds delightful)
  10. from the Oracle himself...how could I possibly refuse ? 😀 😇 Ordered a 5 metre.....coming tomorrow or the next day. Thanks to both of you for your comments. Now to the LPS...anyone using the Sonora 7V LPS with the EtherRegen?
  11. Did exactly that this morning and the Finisar was audibly better to us. Now on to an LPS for the ER….
  12. Trudat....too crazy for sure... "try a direct attached cable" ....any recommends as to brand and are they sonically superior to fibre with transceivers each end?
  13. @Boulder Bob Thanks for your reply...in the few weeks since first posting this topic I've made a few changes to the ethernet end of my system and most follow along with your recommendations. First added a unmanaged switch (sounded better) then added a Topping LPS (much better) so swapped out the small unmanned switch for a Trendnet switch with a SFP adding fibre with media converters to a FMC at the DAC end (better still) so swapped out the FMC for a new EtherRegen (great) so now wading through the long technical threads on this site to find out whether I should be swapping out the 10Gtek 10 Gigabit SFP+ LC Single-Mode Transceiver, 10GBASE-LR Module for the a FINISAR SFP 10KM FTLF1318P3BTL...it is at this end where my understanding gets very dodgy at best....also now wondering about direct attached cable and a LPS for the Regen...what a hobby ! When did listening to music get so technical ? Nevertheless this has been a rewarding journey so far. Regards
  14. Hello All, quick question if anyone is willing. Never paid any attention to my Ethernet supply other than using BJCables but am now streaming more than ever since discovering the joys of Qobuz. Put an unmanaged Trendnet switch and Topping LPS in the other day to test the waters and am now convinced that there is an area for improvement in my ethernet delivery. Am looking at fiber and see that both LHY and Small Green Computer offer some great looking products so seeking opinions and thoughts on these two product lines. DAC is a dCS Bartok so will be fed by copper Ethernet in. Looking at a LHY SW-6 SFP router or Trendnet to either the LHY FMC or Sonore Optical Deluxe…? thanks in advance for any thoughts you may share.
  15. Thanks Chris, Enjoying the 24/192 from Qobuz...as always, you're the best.
  16. Just a heads up; if others have been also blocked from downloading, the site is now working. Was advised by Qobuz support the problem has been solved and am now downloading the Dido and Aeneas, mentioned above. BTW: their new downloader works well!
  17. Thanks for this...that explains it. This was offered as a download sale item about a week ago but due to the payments issues described earlier in this thread couldn't complete the transaction.
  18. OK, why is the latest issue "DIdo and Aeneas" by La Nona Musica shown to be available and allows you to "add to library" but once doing so not playable with each track listed as unavailable...huh? @David.. Qobuz, Hi-Res Music Evangelist Also still waiting for a resolution to the paid download issue, now into six weeks but I guess it is...? I enjoy Qobuz completely but wondering about these things like the two listed above. By your own writing to me, your credit security system is not allowing payments from NA so I would only assume this should be a significant issue to Qobuz but…?
  19. Want to bump this...it's been four weeks since contacting Qobuz on this issue and nothing positive has been done to resolve the issue. I have been advised that "...seems that Checkout is blocking our US customers for no good reason. We'll take a look at your case, but at worst we'll be able to add you to a whitelist, which should solve the problem..." so it appears there are others facing the same issue. Support from Qobuz, one this issue, is abysmal. I seriously question if anything is being done. If their credit authorization system is denying valid customers purchases it is time for them to employ a differing credit system. They make reference to a 3DS authorization protocol but my bank is baffled by this and claims to know nothing about it.
  20. @David.. Qobuz, Hi-Res Music Evangelist Recent member and have Sublime with the intent to listen to music but also download some favs. Qobuz accepted our Visa for the year long membership and for the following four download purchases but is now, inexplicably, refusing payment from two cards we have, both of which have a generous credit limit and a zero balance. Cards work everywhere so wondering if anyone is also has had this issue. Thanks in advance. I do realize these cross border Visa transactions can be problematic but simply question if Qobuz can have a look to see if their transaction house is a tad paranoid. Often order from the EU (eClassical for one) without any concern nor problems so WTF!!!!! Mon dieu!!!!
  21. "If people report back that it's clearly the "TBVO"; I'll reconsider." Hence my post...think we all have a stable of album re-issues, re-masters, and other assorted iterations. Just fishing for any comments from someone who has downloaded.
  22. One of my all time favourites so am intrigued with this latest reissue from Craft Records. Has anyone had a listen? Best, W
  23. Hello David, I was the one who gave you that unnecessary snarky comment a few pages back so hope to be forgiven...just want to say Qobuz is just a joy. Had to wait (too long) for the Canadian release but are we are delighted.
  24. OK, found a work around to initialize the download...reselect the storage location (the same location) in the Settings, Application, Storage Location menu on the qobuz downloader then it happens...buggy
