I also received an email from Qobuz (France) this morning. *(soundtrack from "Superfly" on Rhino) The general content seems similar to the notices posted above relating to purchases from Qobuz in other countries. However, I noticed a sentence in the French version that doesn't appear to be in the other notices. "Nous tenons à vous assurer que nous faisons tout notre possible pour minimiser les perturbations pour nos clients et pour que ces retraits restent exceptionnels." My translation: "We want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to minimize disruptions to our clients and to keep these withdrawals exceptional." Which I took as notifying me to the same thing I've seen happen elsewhere with other download sites, e.g., on 7digitalCanada, I'd estimate around 1/6 or so of my purchases have been subsequently withdrawn for streaming or download, without my receiving any advance notice. Sometimes they've seemed to be withdrawn quite soon after I've purchased them. Given that, on its own, I took the notice I received from Qobuz France to be a reminder to download 'em or risk losing 'em, rather than implying anything more drastic (e.g. buyout/takeover)

AFAIK that link or related links from that page should provide the information to set up streaming to JRemote from your home server over cellular remotely, but it may not cover your particular circumstances. I’ve used JRemote IOS locally over wifi or remotely over wifi or cellular for streaming for years. If you haven’t already done so, perhaps try JRiver’s Interact support forum. https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php

Official Qobuz Issues Thread
Mayfair replied to The Computer Audiophile's topic in Networking, Networked Audio, and Streaming
Another consideration that might or might be relevant to others, I've noticed that some of the albums I purchased from the France Qobuz store would appear to be no longer available if I switched to the Canada Qobuz store. -

If in the first moment of the afterlife I heard Glenn Gould playing Bach, I'd figure that I was in heaven. If I heard Glenn Gould playing Mozart, I'd figure that ... I wasn't.

The first track on this 1981 album weaves classical with jazz - Moonlight Sonata with ‘Round About Midnight. It works, as does everything by the duo. As for the album title,“Moonlight Serenade”, the Glenn Miller hit is not on the album.

https://www.highdeftapetransfers.ca/products/ted-heath-swings-in-high-stereo?_pos=6&_sid=d0771935d&_ss=r Superb 1958 album with superb sound by a superb UK Swing band. Ted Heath was apparently one of Count Basie's favorite band leaders, and coming from Count Basie, that's high praise indeed.

Article: The Best Version Of… John Martyn's Solid Air
Mayfair replied to Josh Mound's topic in Article Comments
Thanks for and compliments on your latest article. I think you hit the review trifecta - I found it magisterial, on point and entertaining. I’d never heard of this album or the artist before, but I bought the download of the 2000 remaster after reading your review. It didn’t come with liner notes, but with your commentary, who needs ‘em? -
Play Classics final calibration: TRT sound 2.4a …no more R&D

First, thank you for the code to download "Kreisler Around the World". I immediately noticed the naturalness of the sound and the "presence" of the instruments. It's a very enjoyable recording, in terms of both the performance and the sound. I wish all my recordings, let alone my classical ones, sounded this good. I also agree with the commenters who have mentioned that for them, ultimately it's the performance that's the critical factor. The quality of the recording is a factor, too, but in practical terms, that involves me searching for and buying specific masterings by a particular artist of a recording (e.g., pre-loudness wars jazz/pop/rock/blues/country or Mercury Living Stereo classical recordings from the 1950s), rather than choosing entirely different artists and recordings because the recordings sound better. I've got recordings by performers such as Vladimir de Pachmann, Fritz Kreisler, Josef Hofmann, Walter Gieseking, Artur Schnabel, and Leopold Godowsky that are recorded on what would today (and 50 years ago) be considered primitive recording technology. But I don't find it hard to listen past the limitations of the original recordings through to the excellence of the performers. That is very much helped by the efforts of Ward Marston and others who have done superb work to restore and rescue old recordings by old masters for modern listeners whose grandparents or even great-grandparents hadn't been born when the original recordings were made. So, I agree with others who suggest trying to spread the word about your technology and its benefits to well-known performers, sound engineers and audio review publications who have the clout, readership and contacts to lobby the major labels and who might convince them that they can sell more recordings and make more money, all other things being the same, if their recordings also sound as good as yours do. I'm sure some of them must read blogs like Audiophile Style, so I think and hope that your efforts will not go unnoticed on the supply side, and wish you every success. -

Hi Mario, If it's not too late, I would like to take up your kind offer and my choice would be 'Around the World With Kreisler' by Olga Yukushina and Elizaveta Yaroshinskaya. Thank you -

Superb 4 CD compilation covering 1932 through 1950, excellent booklet, and I think a must-have if you're a fan of Bob Wills and western swing. https://www.amazon.ca/Take-Back-Tulsa-Bob-Wills/dp/B00005TO15 -

Article: Easily My Album Of The Year
Mayfair replied to The Computer Audiophile's topic in Article Comments
I think I was trying to say that one can objectively say that a work of art is considered of merit if it becomes a component of a society's culture. Of course that's formed by the aggregation of subjective opinions, but so is the objective outcome of an election.
