  1. Well, Bingo JMD! Thank you so much for your help!!! John
  2. Internet Radio Question Good Evening All- I have been trying to get the internet radio feature up and running but so far my efforts have been unsuccessful. I'm sure it's a matter of operator error so here's been my approach: My Library > internet Radio > Click the plus (+) button > add the URL of the radio station > Hit Play and so far no sound. I am using the URL of the station's website. I surmise that's not correct. Example for WFUV (NY,USA) I use https://wfuv.org for the URL WFUV for the Title Image, I have been leaving blank All suggestions are appreciated. John
  3. Hello Marcin- Thank you for offering a lifetime subscription to JPlay. I was able to upgrade easily, $149 US. Best Regards, John
  4. Carlos- Wow! A well thought out, tested and upgraded over time server. You have put really top shelf components, tweaked the OS to accommodate your needs and made cabling. Great to have done these incrementally allowing you to savor each; interesting you found the vibration control and WiFi elimation two of the most significent. (and simplest to boot). It was a lot of run to read through your journey. Again thanks for sharing it and the JPlay wired tip. Listen in Good Health John
  5. Fourlegs- Thank you for sharing your experiences with fiber. Goes to show what works in one system may not in another. John
  6. Carlos- Thank you this initial post on canceling the WiFi and using an ethernet cable. I do have the ehternet adapter so will be givng it a try real soon. My streamer was connected directly using ethernet but later experimented with two FMC's and matching SFP's. This fiber break improved SQ. Also,I have found ripped CD's sound better than their counter parts on Qobuz. Lastly, that's a pretty crazy server you have. Did you design and build it yourself? Nice to see you make your own cables. I always salute the DIY spirit. Cheers, John
  7. Another New Follow-Up I purchased a NAS and installed a 2 TB SSD that was lying around. Added my ripped CD's (aiffs) and then installed the free version of Minimserver yesterday. JPlay IOS picked it all up with one update and has been very responsive with this configuration. It's all just settling in but might well be the end of a dedicated player. Thanks to all for the insight bestowed upon me after posing my initial question. John
  8. KennyB and AudioDoc- Thank you for your comments. I might just go with a QNap 233 and toss in a 2 tb ssd or two that are laying around to "get my feet wet." Enjoy the Weekend and the Sounds! John
  9. Interesting point AudioDoctor. Would you know the system requirements for Minimserver? I haven't been able to find any. I was considering a more powerful NAS (Intel 5105/16 gigs RAM), but would something more modest like an ARM 4 core Cortex 2.0 with 2 gigs of RAM be sufficient? Thanks, John
  10. A final follow-up. I communicated through email with Bryston's software engineer and indeed, Aiff support is not available with the BDP3 in server mode as was suggested by Marcin and AudioDoc and Stefano. Evidently, although more server mode features will be offered in its revised software, server mode support for aiff files is doubtful "due to licensing restrictions." Again, aiff's play fine using the BDP3 as a player with its software package (and sound better than the FLAC version). In the meantime, JPlay IOS is working real well and I may well give a NAS with mininserver a try to play aiffs. John
  11. A great review indeed! It also explained some settings and functionality details that are very helpful. Thanks for posting Marcin. BTW, each paragraph can be copied and pasted into a translator for folks like me who do not speak or read German. John
  12. Very Good Doc! I saw this and am leaning toward an Asustor or QNAP. Thanks, John
  13. Stefano- Yes, it might be a Bryston as a server issue with the aiff files. When changing the soft/firmware to server (DNLA) mode, it does say it is beta and may not function completely. As a note, when looking through folder mode in JPlay, the folders containing the aiff files are all visible but empty; No Data doing a reload, nothing comes up. I know this is looking like a dog chasing its tail but the goal is more a system change. Replacing a player with a NAS and having local files inter mingled with Qobuz under one interface (JPlay). Using the Bricasti ethernet network interface, also seems to provide an uptick in sound quality. Your's and AudioDoc's input has been much appreciated. John
  14. All very true AudioDoc, with me, it's more an issue of doing something new and different and having a winter project. When I loaded the FLAC files onto the Bryston JPlay did see them. I had to do a sync about 12 times to get all of the 1400+ albums visible. My thoughts are to sell the Bryston and use a NAS instead. Part of a system "downsizing program" that will help open up the living room a bit. Thanks John
  15. OK, first of all, thanks for the input guys. My Bricasti M! series II is a DAC with a built in network interface. There is no storage. This "network card/Interface" is connected via ethernet cable to the router/switch. One can also attach digital player devices (CD player/laptop etc) to the M1 using AES/USB/Toslink/BNC. The Bryston BDP3 is a digital player with storage that can play through AES/USB/BNC directly to the DAC. The software also allows it to become a server only; similar to a NAS and connect to the network via ethernet. No processing (as in iTunes/Audirvanna/JRiver/ROON etc) just the file. Yes, these files are found by JPlay then play but as I stated earlier, .aiff's were not recognized. MP3/4's and FLACS are. Music files can also be picked up on a portable HD plugged into the router's USB by JPlay and play through the M1. SQ is lacking... I think the router is being over taxed. So yes, it seems a UPNP/DLNA device needs to feed the M1. I now surmise for a NAS to be a UPNP/DLNA device, Minimserver is necessary (?). The learning curve continues, but as a wise person once said, "getting there is half the fun." Thank you for the input. John
