i have a yamaha rx v592 receiver sunbuck av 338st klipsch 8.5 75 watt 8 ohm speakers pioneer cs-305 120w welton 300 watt the klipsch and pioneer are connected to the receiver parallel useing 6 channel connection and the weltons are connected to the power amp parallel if i understand this the klipsch 75 watt or 150w (for the pair) would be reduced to 75 watt putting less strain on the receiver if i had them connected normally (which heats up the receiver in no time at all)and increasing the output of the speakers makeing them louder then before.....

i'm still useing my yamaha receiver from the mid 90's its only 230 watt but its a damn beast i have blown many of the newer receivers from other companies like sony and such over the years and it makes me sad really they looked good and sounded great but just couldnt keep up and yet my 230 watt yamaha is still kicking if the companies made better equpment then what they do now i think they would put themselves out of work
-
if the spekars are to much for your amp you would try some of the differnet wireing schemes to reduce the watts and such i'm useing a yamaha 230 watt receiver i have a pair of weltons and klipsch 8.5 floor speakers my receiver would quickly get hot after playing music over half volume then i started playing with the different wireing diagrams and found they dont over heat my receiver as much now i can turn the volume up almost to max b4 i have to worry

Does Anyone Miss When Audio Was More Conservative?
JaredM42 replied to Digi&Analog Fan's topic in General Forum
personally i love the older speakers they just sound better to me i still have my dads dh 10's big squares with alot of good sound but yeah i have to agree good speakers are way to pricey for todays market they just dont seam to hold up to the old school
