I'm very sorry to bother you but I'm trying to understand what causes these problems. Let's analyze one thing at a time. Let's talk about Ubuntu 24.04.1 kernel 6.6.50-jl+ I attach 2 screen shots, the first with the ASDM7EC-super 512+fs modulator, the second with the ASDM5EC-super 512+fs modulator With the 7 series modulator it doesn't stutter and the 2 cores of the i7 14700KF work at around 60%. With the 5 series modulator it stutters and the 2 cores work at around 64%. The GPU also seems to behave differently. With the 7 series modulator the graph is jagged while with the 5 series it is flat But shouldn't the modulators have the same load?

Hello Jussi, first of all sorry if I didn't explain myself well. You read many posts and can't remember them all. This is the link to my previous post: https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/19715-hq-player/?do=findComment&comment=1290915 Here there are screen shot from Windows and Ubuntu and they seem the same to me but maybe I'm wrong. My set up is: I7 14700KF + 32 Gb DDR6400 GSkills + Asus RTX 4060oc 8Gb Thanks for suggestion, I'll try Fedora today and report the result Enjoy your day Regards Gerardo

Hello @Miska I also tried the Intel build but unfortunately it still stutters. I installed Ubuntu 24.04.1 again and then installed Nvidia Drivers 5.60 + Cuda Drivers 12.6. After that I installed the 6.6.50-jl+ kernel and then HQP Desktop 5.7.4 Now I can do 48x512 with ASDM7EC-super 512+fs, N1 and Nx poli-sync-str-short-lp with the Cyan2 correction enabled. (screen shot #1) But if I change the modulator from 7 to 5EC-super 512+fs it starts to stutter and even if I go back to the 7EC modulator... it continues to stutter (screen shot #2) Thanks to a friend I also tried Embedded but this also stutters like Desktop. I also tried using NAA 4.61 on the rpi4 but even then it stutters. I also tried connecting the Cyan2 directly to the PC's USB3 but even then it stutters. HQPlayer Desktop works great (of course) with Windows 11 and I can use modulators, filters and cyan2 correction described previously. I can also change OTA filters or modulators without problems Truly bizarre behavior 🤔 At this point I will use Windows waiting for solutions. I'm a little tired of constantly installing Ubuntu 😉 Thanks so much for your support and sorry for the inconvenience Best Regards Gerardo

I'm using the AVX2 build. Tomorrow I'll try the Intel build and report the result.

Thanks so much for your reply I've tried different values for Blocks for cycles from 1 to 6 but the one that works better is 1. Unfortunately, however, it continues to stutter. It's really strange that with Windows it works perfectly and with Ubuntu it stutters. Who knows?

@Miska Hello Miska sorry in advance but I need your help to solve this puzzle. I thought I had solved the stuttering problem with the change I had indicated in my previous post, but the problem persists. It's very strange because Ubuntu is supposed to be lighter than Windows. My setup is: I7 14700KF+32Gb DDR6400 GSkills+Asus Rtx4060oc 8Gb ->Lan RJ45->Rpi4 NAA 5.0.2 OS->USB3 Cyan2. In Windows I can do DSD48x512 with N1/Nx poli-sync-xtr-short-lp filter, ASDM7EC-super 512+fs shaper, Cyan2 correction on and Blocks for Cyles=1 without stuttering. The same configuration in Ubuntu 24.04.1 with 6.6.50-jl+ kernel stutters every 1-1.5 minutes. This morning I installed Ubuntu 24.04.1+NVidia and CUDA drivers again hoping to solve the problem but unfortunately nothing has changed. It seems that the problem depends on the filter management because if I use the xtr-short-lp -2s filter it doesn't stutter.

Hello everyone and Hello @Miska due to a crash on my PC I had to reinstall Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu 24.04.1 and after this I realized that with Windows I was able to use DSD48x512 with N1/Nx poli-sync-xtr-short-lp filter, ASDM7EC-super 512+fs shaper, Cyan2 correction on and Blocks for Cyles=4 without stuttering 😁 The same configuration on Ubuntu instead stuttered and I couldn't understand why. This evening after many tests I solved the problem with the "NVidia X Server Setting" app by changing the default setting in "Power Mizer" to "Prefer Maximum Performance" as the attached screen shot My setup is: I7 14700KF+32Gb DDR6400 GSkills+Asus Rtx4060oc 8Gb ->Lan RJ45->Rpi4 NAA 5.0.2 OS->USB3 Cyan2 I hope this experience can be useful to other forumers Cheers Gerardo

I finally managed to assemble my new PC: I7 14700KF + 32Gb DDR5 6400 GSkill + Asus Rtx4060oc 8Gb + Cyan2 under Ubuntu 24.04 and low latency kernel 6.6.50-jl+ and I was able to thoroughly squeeze my files. Below are 3 screen shots Thanks @Miska for all the precious suggestions you have given me over these months I'm very happy! Please note first screen shot is DSD 512 with defaul filters, ASDM7EC super 512+fs and correction enable The 2nd is DSD 1024 with same filters but AMSDM7 512+fs and correction enable The 3rd is DSD 1024 starting from 96KHz then 49,57 MHz same filters and shaper, correction enable I think it's a great shot and this pc is not too expensive 😊

Sorry, I made a bit of confusion. I installed the 6.6.50-jl+ kernel with its headers on Ubuntu 24.04 😊 I removed the old kernels so now when I boot GRUB it makes me choose between 6.6.50-jl+ and 6.8.0-44. Sorry for the mistake and thanks for your suggestions Gerardo
-
Wow! Thanks so much for your explanation. Little question: can I use your Kernel 6.6.30-jl+ in Ubuntu 22.04?
-
Hi @Miska I don't know if it's only my problem but in the Client you can't see the filters previous to the one selected. Look at the screen shot I hope I explained myself well Ubuntu 24.04 + HQP 5.7.4 It works well from HQPControl and I can switch filter OTA

I just updated Ubuntu to version 24.04 and then updated HQPlayer Desktop to version 5.7.4 Everything perfect! Great shot Thank you very much
-
Yup! I know because I switch to XMP Profile1 also for ddr4 3200 Thanks very much indeed Gerardo

Thanks so much for you reply. Thanks your experience I'm thinking of changing MoBo to be able to use 32 Gb DDR5 6400. I'll report my experience as soon as possible Best regards Gerardo
