  1. great insights, thank you for sharing and educating me :)
  2. isn't that a bit of a bold statement? i'm not saying you're wrong, I just wouldn't know and not sure you would either unless you have info I don't have. Mind sharing your thoughts there?
  3. is it actually possible to upgrade amps in the Kii Three ? do they offer the service?
  4. thank you, it's a useful perspective. I discovered the Rose RS150B recently and I really like its specs, but I haven't listened to it yet, i'm looking for a distributor locally. Looks a bit more future-ready than the dCS NB although for sure, there is nothing inherently wrong with it...
  5. thank you very much! incredibly useful :) the amp I am considering Rose RS520 doesn't have a low pass filter. From what I can tell when reading your answer, it's not a big deal since I can set everything on the subwoofer directly.
  6. thank you, I did read it and it helped re how to connect the sub, but it doesn't really address my question about how to set-up the crossover in such a setup. Is it a different crossover configuration than for an amp with a subwoofer output vs a preamp out?
  7. thanks and I'm sorry if I'm not using the right terms - the amp I'm considering is an integrated amp (Rose RS520) so the preamp out is indeed what I'm suggesting to use...the SVS is indeed powered. I gather from your answer that it doesn't matter that the integrated amp doesn't have a dedicated sub output, I use the preamp out (RCA), connect the SVS, and I just set the crossover on the sub and that's it? I thought that maybe not having a dedicated sub output would complicate the configuration...
  8. hello friends, Kindly help a noob ;) so I am going to use the pre-amp out of my future integrated amp to connect the SVS 3000 micro (or KEF KC62) I plan on buying. Unfortunately the amp I have in mind does not have a dedicated sub output and it's the only negative I see for this amp in my use case... My current speakers are KEF LS 50 meta. my questions: - Is this going to make the set-up of the sub more difficult? - How do I set the crossover of the sub in this case? Thank you in advance for your help!
  9. thanks but why does it have to be resampled first when using coax or AES? i get the resampling done by Kii's internal DAC but I don't get why it's done before that by the streamer or Roon?
  10. hi, I am currently using a dCS network bridge (legacy product now) with Kii Three active speakers which I really like, via the Kii Control (coax input). The dCS network bridge doesn't have a USB output so I can't use USB to the Kii Control. I am thinking about changing the dCS Network Bridge to a newer streaming transport like the new Lumin U2 mini. The dCS is now 5 years old and it's not future proof since it's now a legacy product. However, upgrading to the Lumin U2 mini that has more sampling rates may not make sense in my use case since I am going to be limited by the DAC from my Kii Threes. It seems that the DAC from the Kii Three got really good reviews but on coax limited to 24/192 PCM when using coax like with my dCS NB. Should I upgrade(?) to Lumin U2 mini, I would have the possibility to connect to the Kii Control by USB and therefore use more of the capability of the Kii internal DAC with higher sampling rates. Would such a move make sense? from a technical perspective it looks like it at first glance, but what about SQ...? Thank you for your thoughts in advance! NB: These are the specs from Kii Three: Direct to Kii speakers: AES/EBU up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM USB to Kii control input supports sample-rates up to 384 kHz PCM, as well as DSD 64 and 128 --> not possible in my case since dCS doesn't have USB capability
  11. hey everyone, I have been using my Kii Three for 2 years and I would now like to add a subwoofer to them. 2 questions: 1- how is the optimal way to connect a sub to the Kii Three? 2- I am just *thinking* at this point about adding a KEF KC62 (Frequency Response (-3dB) 11Hz). Would this work? If you have good alternatives in a similar price range I would be happy to know (budget 1-2K) :) Thank you!
  12. thanks a lot! looking forward to reading some reviews from people in munich!
