so is the chip inside?

It's no my problem. I would like to power a mbp (not magsafe) with a linear power supply...is it possible? linear psu > usbc port
-
but nobody knows...
-
Hi Stefano, I don't want to remove the battery, I want to leave the mac charging with a linear power supply and not its (excellent) SMPS. The model with magsafe works perfectly, I was wondering if it is also possible to do it on the models with USB-C (see you on Melius...)
-
If I wanted to power a macbook pro 2016 with a linearPS through usb-c do you think it's possible? The old magsafe has a control chip on the plug, where the LED is, and connected to a linear power supply it's fine, but for the models with usb-c I don't know how it works. Does anyone know how and if it works? I can go safely just with correct voltage and watts?

do you think an adapter like this could improve SQ if supplied with a good external PS instead of the usb 5v coming from the server? I'm wondering if it must be always powered and how it chooses what feed to be used...(usb or PS)
-
Hello, I'm using a sata to usb adapter for connecting my ssd library to the server. Do you think that a clean power (12v) could improve the SQ? ...and the external power overtop the 5v coming from the server or not?

and USB is not designed fot audio applications...so.. what's your favorite way from a network bridge to the dac?
-
Reading some tests of the DCS network bridge from which emerges even on the suggestion of the manufacturer that the output to be preferred would be the AES. There are also some streamers with i2s outputs that should be the most direct. And then of course USB outputs always better, galvanically isolated and with interfaces with xmos, fpga etc..che they arrive at very high resolutions What do you think? ... where is the music?

The perfect Ifi support just switched it for a new one. Now everything is sounding very cool, thanks to IFi uk
-
I'm talking about an Iusb3.0 not Itube. The mac doesn't see the dac, only the internal speakers.
-
Yes, I did.
-
thank you Samuel...I don't know what to do now. I open a ticket with Ifi but it seems on a dead end track...
-
Yes I did it several times. I tried "on" and "auto". The dac are Aqua Formula and Audio Analogue Vivace, various usb cables...
-
I tried it with various dacs...
-
The dac is xmos based. I use it with a light speed usb (double head) and the 5v line is ok, I can use it just like a power supply. But I tried a wireworld starlight and others normal cables and the output 5v+data crash or slow down the mac...
-
Anyone have an idea...? please...

A new Ifi Nano Iusb3.0 plugged between my MBP retina and my Dac (xmos usb input) doesn't work. The 5v row supply the dac but the mac doesn't see it at all. Two different macs, left and right usb ports, various usb cables and...nothing. Any suggestion? USB 3.0 issue? thanks guys!

Any experience with iFi Audio iDefender 3.0?
newton replied to newton's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
Is your dac using the usb 5v not only for the handshake..? I would like to try on my system. -
Break the noisy USB power, but in the correct way There are more than a few products that break the USB power connection, but of the ones known to us, they do very little because the noisy ground connection remains. For DACs that do not use USB power (except for handshake) the iDefender3.0® breaks the ground connection eliminating earth loops, while allowing normal handshake operation to continue. So in terms of cutting out the noise, it does it in the most comprehensive way possible while at the same time, in an electrically correct way.

FURUTECH AC-1501 IEC FILTER...that is the question
newton replied to newton's topic in General Forum
So guys, the power distributor works great. much much better than my old one (custom made, ofc star wired). I also had the chance to purchase (used) this Furutech FT-SWS® and set it up during the holidays...what can I say...try... -
FURUTECH AC-1501 IEC FILTER...that is the question
newton replied to newton's topic in General Forum
The Furutech f-TP615E has arrived and I set it up. So...it's a BIG step from my old power distributor (plastic case, ofc wiring, commercial plugs). I did A-B and, today, B-A comparison...no looking back
