@Jud I stand corrected and remember reading on Owsley Stanley years ago and his connection to the GD and have a playlist of the few Bears Sonic Journals available for streaming and even contributed to his Foundation years ago because of what it was attempting to do with forgotten but great rock/folk recordings. i am also sure i read by some Jerry/GD biographers( Dennis McNally was classmate of mine at St Lawrence University class 1969) that not only Stanley but Spector had something to do with amassing that Wall of Sound but i guess I was wrong and your link was great and jarred my memory banks thanks and @firedog I did not mean to start a spitting contest about sematics in regards to 'The Wall of Sound'--I was under the impression from something I read in some DEAD biographers book or article that Spector and GD had some sort of collaberation I was incorrect and I certainly know the difference between the 2 Walls... but I wanted to point out how the DEAD made McIntosh the world renowned amplifier company it is now--its headquarters are 2 hours from my home and alas I never owned one and at my age my CFO would never allow me to buy even their used equipment!

@jabbr and others that wall of sound was Phil Spector’s idea and The Dead used McIntosh equipment and put McIntosh on the world map !! speaking of Spector he also put a gun to Leonard Cohen’s head during a night of drinking and whispered “ I love you Leonard” and Cohen whispered back “ I certainly hope you do, Phil”( after Phil produced the Hallelujah album) How many of you DEAD lovers and haters knew those 2 bits of trivia? I also have an unopened bottle of 50 plus year old Grateful Dead wine think that might be overrated also or about as dead as Jerry? IMHO they aren’t rated high enough

I cancelled my trial subscription easily

@The Computer Audiophile You are correct! I was able to download from an Amazon site the app from an Apple community site — I will post it later IF anyone is interested. It is just like the desktop apps for TIDAL Qobuz ROON Audirvāna but not nearly as sophisticated AND it only plays in FLAC even for the the HIRes stuff I transferred via Soundiz— AND I have to play at much higher volume . So AM is worthless as you put it in nice terms as you usually do. I will stay with my hundreds of self curated playlists and all great new music ideas genres and people/ artists I never heard of in great SQ and separation up to 24/192!-on my current services. BTW/FYI try a Scottish folk group called Steam Jenny who our tour guide introduced us to while in Scotland last week(along with the Covid we brought back) My spouse is a Dinwoodie clan of clan Maxwell— it’s such a good name my son and I never bought a pint 20 years ago when we played St Andrews Carnoustie Kingsbarns and Crail( could have gone the other way) that clan were horse and cattle rustlers among other things! @The Computer Audiophile i am using the web player. Can't for the life of me find the amazon music unlimited app anywhere except for some 3rd parties. i imagine if there is one from Amazon or Apple appstore it would be like TIDAL and Qobuz apps and will solve my problem correct ie SQ issue because no I only get 16/44 instead 24/88 24/192 etc that i get with say Audirvana. This is sort of objective / subjective observations: I recently subscribed to AM and transferred(via Soundiz not the service(s) Amazon suggested)some of my self curated playlists from TIDAL and Qobuz to AM and compared them to TIDAL/Qobuz alone and with Audirvana(but not with ROON). My system is simple: M1 Macmini with 16GB RAM USB to Schiit Yggdrasil 2 DAC with Ragarnock 2 (just the amp) to pair Legacy Audio HD Studio Monitors What I noticed is that AM(I opted for the HD/Ultra HD format) only registers 2X on the Yggy while it registers 4x when playing TIDAL(sometimes) Qobuz (all the time) and Audirvana (ALL the time AND sounds much better). Does anyone one know why? And overall is AM an equal or better substitute for my current formats going forward as i age and need to to save $$ for multiple services? I also find the separation and SQ sound different and not as good especially with Audirvana compared to AM-- but is not a deal breaker but could be. IS AM as good with SQ/separation as the services I use in anyone's opinion? AM limits the number of playlists I made that I can transfer-- if I drop TIDAL Qobuz Audirvana (NOT ROON as i have "lifetime" subscription) will those transferred playlists remain on AM or disappear? Any other links to my questions would also be appreciated. bobbmd

Has anyone ever heard of this totally out of the way restaurant and motel on NYS Rt 11? While at St Lawrence University in Canton NY in 1965-1969 I saw Buddy Rich,Louie Armstrong Count Baise and others performing. at the time because of “in loco parentis” women and men could not stay in a motel in St Lawrence County but Moria NY was not in St Lawrence County so fraternities and sororities would rent buses and go there!! the food was fabulous linen table cloths and rooms named after different countries

@David Craff hello I just got a warning that my Qobuz account password was compromised and was told told to change it. This password was given to me when you became available in USA and I had a French address (Oneida, New France which is what the northeast would have been called if the French had won on the Plains of Abraham) I hardly ever have to use it and I have no way on the Qobuz web page/app page to change it. do you think this is a scam ?

Saw him and many others at a isolated motel on route 11 in FranklinNY USA the place was called Moira at the Cross Roads while I was at St Lawrence University in Canton NY 1965-69 Anyone else ever been there? also saw Count Basie and others never figured out why these great jazz people&orchestras played at this desolate motel/lounge/with brazen rooms featuring different countries like the Polish room fraternities would higher buses to take them there with sorority dates it was always a hoot linen table covers great prime rib dinners

APPLE Mac Mini M1 or M2 16GB RAM-inexpensive and small I use only Schiit products to add on and all their products are Audiophile quality and made in USA(even if you consider Texas a “taint” state) Never a problem with ROON/Audirvana/TIDAL/Qobuz I have 35000 tracks Never could get JRiver to work and every time you turn around it costs more Specifically stayed away from PC b/o WASAPI and all that other confusing stuff a PC required

@The Computer Audiophile&others: Happy New Year I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Hybrid 2023 with that wonderful Mcintosh sound system. How is it or can it be used for ATMOS? I use BlueTooth via my iphone for Qobuz and TIDAL and i also listen to Sirius Can ATMOS(or ATMOS recordings from say TIDAL) make this system sound even better than it is? It has both stereo and surround sound settings. This ATMOS confuses me as I once had a 5.1/7.1 system i had just so I could enjoy SACD/DVD-Audio recordings through a Yamaha c750 changer(which still works!) but who still has patience to look open plastic boxes load the changer and listen anymore? I try using my airpods 2nd gen pros at home and they say spatial audio(is this same as ATMOS?) is not available if using them via my macmini m1---i have not tried them with my 2yr old iphone and 2021 ipad pro--will i hear 'better' sound than i already do with ATMOS recordings? My home system is the Mac Mini M with Schiit Yggdrasil and Ragnarok and a Meridian Explorer 2 to pair of Legacy Audio Stereo HD monitors and Sennheiser HD 598s through the Rggy. Am I chasing dreams using ATMOS for my 76 yo ears everything i listen to still sounds wonderful or is this like searching for the Holy Grail? bobbmd

Qobuz, Hi-Res Music Evangelist on recent air flight My Qobuz or off line playlists would not play from my iPhone 15 or my iPad Pro both with latest updates etc am I doing something wrong or doesn’t offline playlists work at all in airplane mode? also if I try to download albums or playlists I make they don’t show up in my offline library— I have more than enough space thanks

@The Computer Audiophile and others I hope this is not a repeat inquiry Does anyone know if it is safe to upgrade to Mac OS Sonoma in regards to using Audirvana Studio and for that matter using ROON or the desk apps for TIDAL/Qobuz? should I ask about this in regard to ROON and TIDAL and Qobuz elsewhere

i have 2 dacs one-- Schitt Yggdrasil no MQA to the below Schiit amp two--- Meridian Explorer 2 that does MQA into Schiit Ragnarok amp MQA does not appear anymore for me on the Meridian just FLAC ie all LEDs are white--the sound is still 'louder'(LIKE IT DID with MQA) than either through ROON or Audirvana Studio or Qobuz stand alone app am playing TIDAL now through the Meridian and it MAY even sound BETTER than Qobuz on desktop app but Audirvana is still best SQ but it is hard to do A/B comparison at the same time just switched to schiit DAC and Schiit amp had to reduce the volume again but it actually sounds much better than TIDAL was when not decoding MQA albums(schiit founders abhor that type of sound replication as well as DSD etc). So I am not changing anything not dropping TIDAL or Qobuz both have their different pluses and minuses can't drop ROON because i have lifetime subscription since it's inception whatever that means at my age never drop Audirvana it is great compared in a lot of respects to ROON ( hey @AudioDoctor) especially support and their snotyness/aragance sic will let you all know what TIDAL sounds like through ROON and Audirvana Studio if anyone is interested. @ComputerAudiophile our revered founder Chris what do YOU think???
