  1. Yes, it was like that before. At some point, the individual Pettersson albums with Christian Lindberg on BIS disappeared, coinciding with the release of a complete set of all the symphonies in the same performance. A little later, the individual albums reappeared.
  2. There is no such thing as the best set of Sibelius symphonies. Different people will name different editions, and each recommendation can have its own advantages but may not suit you specifically. Anyway, you may want to try each one of Vänskä's, early Berglund, Sir Colin Davis/Boston.
  3. Yes, mess and nuisance -- the whole apparent world is. Referring back to Qobuz, I hope it will be ironed out. I was asking about Tidal because it is another lossless service supported by my streamer and I have it at mind at as a plan B if and when Qobuz may go down.
  4. Very sorry to hear that. I would be seriously upset if I lost access to Sibelius with Vänskä. I wonder, what about Tidal? Do they still have access to these albums from Germany?
  5. UK Qobuz - Sibelius by Vänskä with both Lahti and Minnesota are available for streaming.
  6. So, the fateful date has arrived. Did anyone notice anything? I didn’t. Masaaki Suzuki on BIS is still in place, as are Bavouzet’s performances of Mozart’s Concertos on Chandos.
  7. So, some albums previously purchased will no longer be available for re-download. That’s understandable. But will these albums be available for streaming, without purchase and download? I’m only interested in listening, I don’t buy/download anything on Qobuz. "When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose"?
  8. Wayne Shorter - Celebration, Volume 1 Live 2014 performance recorded at the Stockholm Concert Hall in Sweden
  9. In the 70s, I preferred other albums by the Mahavishnu Orchestra, such as Birds of Fire. But now, with the passage of time, I’m more likely to listen to Apocalypse.
  10. This recording made a good impression. I have a soft spot for the Triple Concerto, I try to listen to all versions.
  11. Thanks again for the clarification, Kal. To be honest, for many years I thought Schoenberg did the score. Here's what I found online: "Schoenberg arranged Das Lied von der Erde for string quintet (standard quartet, plus double bass), wind quintet, bassoon, horn, piano, harmonium, and percussion (glockenspiel, cymbals, tam-tam, tambourine, small and large drum). By the time the Society folded in 1922, he had abandoned the project, after orchestrating only the first song. For the remaining songs, he left extensive notes, which, in 1983, decades after his death in 1951, the German composer, conductor, and musicologist Rainer Riehn (1941-2015) used to finish the score. Making a slight adjustment to Schoenberg's instrumentation, Riehn added a part for celesta in "Der Abschied." Yes, normally I prefer original Das Lied, but sometimes chamber version may sound pretty good, as the a.m. mentioned recording with Marianne Beate Kielland.
  12. Schoenberg's version, recorded live in Toblach, South Tyrol, the place where Mahler composed this work in the summer of 1908.
  13. We may stay away from politics, but politics stays with us always.
