What's the best digitizing phono preamp currently on the market?
StephenJK replied to BlueSkyy's topic in Analog Components
It doesn't have to be a preamp, does it? If you want to digitize LPs then you're looking for a high quality ADC. I recorded over 1,500 LPs with a Korg MR-2000S digital recorder at 1 bit/5.66 MHz and then used their software to convert each LP as a single file into 24/96. I tested with 24/192 but really couldn't hear the difference. Then, with a program called VinylStudio you can do a lookup on Discogs to get (if possible) the cover art, track times and track titles. The Korg is no longer being made but is available as either used or NOS. An alternative would be the Tascam DA-3000 which has comparable specs. Edit: I had the Korg connected to the monitor loop of my preamp, at the time an Audio Research LS-27. The turntable output had already been through an Audio Research PH-5 phono stage to boost from MC to MM and for RIAA equalization. -

I hear you. Q&A was a great idea, but turned into a place where people who were unable to help themselves - looked for help. In retrosepect, it could be renamed as "Let me Google that for you." Cheers, Stephen -

Shouldn't this be in the Q&A section? In any event, why doesn't somebody just try it and then we'll all know.

Likely all obsolete by now. Dude, get an Alienware laptop and some decent wireless headphones. -
A center channel is generally used with a movie setup. A stereo setup will favor a 2 channel setup.

Ferrum Hypsos hybrid PS, variable 5-30V DC / 6A
StephenJK replied to skatbelt's topic in General Forum
Seriously? A fixed resistance wire from an element designed to melt at a particular current rating is directional? I remember majority and minority carriers from college, but that was with solid state devices. A fuse is a resistive device, and no orientation could possibly make any difference whatsoever. Dude, come on. Don’t spend money on fuses, save for your retirement. -

There’s nothing magical about a power supply. A step down transformer, a full wave bridge rectifier and a couple of caps to get rid of DC ripple gives you the best you can get. Challenge the manufacturer, OP. Ask them to send you a copy of the schematic for their magical device. If you want a better system, buy a better stereo. Power supplies don’t make anything better, except for something with a wall wart that sounds poor in the first place. Any reputable manufacturer knows how to design a power supply that works with their circuitry. Anyone who claims to know something they don’t is someone trying to sell you something that you probably don’t need. -
Chris, when do we decide that questions don’t get an answer?
StephenJK posted a question in Questions and Answers
I answered one seconds ago that goes back to 2019 without a response. If a question has remained unanswered for XX days, then delete it. Is that unreasonable? Edit: Please don’t delete my question for XX days. -
I will answer when the question is made clear.
